Florida's standards seek to contextualize American slavery as something other than what it was: a unique historical crime, perpetuated over two-plus centuries.
SMH....you just lied a few minutes ago and said blacks stole instruments from whites. You literally said about a have dozen lies about Haiti and its history.
You think I forgot when you said I was only one of 8 blacks who grew up in a home with their father. You also forgot when you said that you could explain why every black person shot and killed by police unarmed was their fault. I gave you a list of over 100 and you stopped trying to lie after a half dozen. Why you lie on black people, I don't know. I guess it makes you somehow in your twisted mind to think that you and whites are superior because you are white. You definitely are not superior to anyone.
Being a racist POS with dementia, its hard to keep track of all the lies you have said.
seek help.
Sorry, I forget you're really stupid sometimes...
The point was if you're going to claim evil whitey stole black culture it is relevant that the "black culture" was being expressed on instruments invented by white culture.
And bear in mind the "cultural appropriation" morons are all on your side.
EVERYONE is superior to YOU personally.

The Spanish stole the land from the Taino, which was then ceded to France. Where was their payment?
What the French were actually charging Haiti for was the loss of slave labor — the Haitians themselves.
But if might makes right, then I guess the defeated French should have just respected the loss. Just like the KMT should respect that the Communists won mainland China. Because, as you said, if you win, you’re in the right.
Haiti was a French colony. France owned it when the slaves revolted and took it over.
France was the most powerful country on earth when this happened. I'm sure you have no idea before you Google but France was in the midst of conquering Europe in 1804 and was too busy to deal with an uppity colony on the other side of the world.
Might does make right in the real world which is exactly why the Haitians had to bend over and agree to pay back the French.
You are hopelessly naive if you think morality is more important in geopolitics than might.
It’s impressive how bad you are at this.
You would have laid down and said, “yes, it’s right and just that we Haitians pay our former enslavers. They are right to take all our money and resources.”
Whatever anyone can force you to do is right and just. If I kill someone and take their land, it is now mine as long as I can successfully defend it against intrusion. As long as I can vanquish any challengers, I am then morally in the right. And that’s one philosophy. But you’re going to have to live with that when you’re on the losing end.

Slaves were property. When you steal property from someone that person can sue for damages.
You might not like it. It might not be moral now. But at the time it was the law the whole world operated under.
"Right and just" have nothing to do with it. The world doesn't operate on your naive everything is cookies and rainbows world view.
The entire world has operated under these rules FOREVER.
Under your ignorant logic slavery shouldn't have even existed.
Thinking people 200 years ago viewed the world the same way you do is shockingly ignorant.

Google the word "Ukraine" and see how well your philosophy pans out even today let alone in the 1800s.
Where to begin? I’ll start with my own family history (the author, Eugene Robinson). One of my great-great-grandfathers, enslaved in Charleston, S.C., was indeed compelled to learn to be a blacksmith. But he had no ability to “parlay” anything, because his time and labor were not his own. They belonged to his enslaver. He belonged to his enslaver.
To pretend my ancestor was done some sort of favor by being taught a trade ignores the reality of race-based, chattel slavery as practiced in the United States. He was sold like a piece of livestock at least twice that I know of. To say he “developed skills,” as if he had signed up for some sort of apprenticeship program, is appallingly ahistorical. As was true for the millions of other enslaved African Americans, anything he achieved was in spite of his bondage.

The curriculum was co-authored by a black guy who was descended from actual slaves.
Eugene Robinson is still a slave doing exactly what his Democrat masters told him to do.
I'll take Dr. William Allen's opinion on what his curriculum actually is than the world of race baiters and trash like you, Eugene Robinson, and Kamala Harris think.

Slaves were PEOPLE.
Under your twisted assertion, then a person can sue the person who enslaved them and kept them as property....a person belongs to themselves.
Everyone knew slavery was immoral then and now. Again...just like DeSatan and other racists, you attempt to change history.
And again, those musicians were playing on instruments created by white people.
SMH....forever deflecting. Whites invented drums and the banjo? You keep talking about instruments.
That's like an architect making a totally new radical design of a structure and here comes "TheRacistInTheRoom" claiming he invented a hammer, so therefore the design and building was stolen.

You've dedicated your entire worthless life to complaining about slavery and you don't know anything about it.
The slave owners literally used the Bible to justify slavery. They didn't think they were doing anything wrong.
Now I realize you're dumb as a f*cking rock so this is really going to blow your mind. Just because people today consider something to be immoral doesn't mean people 200 years ago must have known they were doing something wrong.
The Aztecs which you LOVE because they were just brown enough for you to consider worthy of respect used to march their slaves up the pyramid and cut their hearts out while they were alive. They didn't think they were doing anything immoral either.
PLEASE try to consider how utterly f*cking stupid you are before you type anything.

On what date did it stop being ok to own people?
The idea of “being born into slavery” was far from universal and in fact reached its apex with the Atlantic slave trade. As I wrote earlier, in more common practices of slavery, the slaves were often members of a defeated clan or society and their descendants integrated with the larger society over time.
You also seemed to miss that day in class when they went over contemporary critics of slavery who regarded the practice as cruel and inhumane as we do today. You seem to think that everyone was all on board with it until one day in the 19th Century that people all together said, “wait a second…”

Yes, a white guy invented the banjo.
I'd wager the drum predates black people.
Bluegrass Music: The Roots
The various types of music brought with the people who began migrating to America in the early 1600s are considered to be the roots of bluegrass music---including dance music and ballads from Ireland, Scotland and England, as well as African American gospel music and blues. (In fact, slaves from Africa brought the design idea for the banjo--an instrument now integral to the bluegrass sound.)

That depends who you ask. Slavery is still happening today.
Of course the abolitionist movement was contemporary to slavery. That doesn't mean everyone agreed with them or shared their views on the morality of slavery.
I never said "everyone was on board with it".
Proponents of slavery in the south used the Bible to defend the morality of slavery.
You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

It is a wild stretch to pretend that the African akonting was a banjo. We may as well say Africans invented every stringed instrument by that ridiculous standard.
