Trump captured 8% of the black vote in 2016. He may double that in 2020.

You may be right that it fires up the opposition as much as or more than the base.

But still, the base is all he's got. Without cheating, the only way he could win would be to get his base to turn out in greater numbers than everyone else. It won't work, but it's the only card he has to play.

And Trump may only get half the black vote he got last time.

Black people have noticed people being more overtly comfortable being racist since Trump took office.

Certainly white supremacists have been more open and have marched more.

Most of my Facebook friends are black because of in-laws, track friends and old neighborhood friends.

None of them are fooled by Trump. They are ranting about him all the time. They are recruiting people to vote him out.

You can show small anecdotes of supporters but there is a ground game that is not going his way.
