it depends on teh numbers of voters. sure, poor voters seem to be dem. But if there are hardly any poor voters, then their numbers are quite small.
meaning:
for the sake of argument:
1 million voters with incomes under $30k
50 million voters with incomes over $150k
then overall, the raw numbers of poor democrats is very low, and yeah Dems could could still be the richer party than the Rs.
put another way...it's possible for SAT scores to go up in every ethnic group but the average SAT score to go down. Why? if, say, the number of black SAT takers goes up dramatically. Black SAT scores are significantly lower than other ethnic groups...so if the number of black test takers goes up, the average will come down. Even if blacks improve their SAT scores.
It's called simpson's paradox and it's fascinating.
