This is exactly opposite of the truth. The GOP has been forcing out all of its moderate center right members. Basically, they've been forcing out everyone who is not 100% loyal to their supreme leader Trump.
For evidence of this, just look at who is at the DNC convention this week and who was at the RNC convention. The Dems have virtually all of their living former Presidents (except Carter) and nominees there speaking for Harris this week. President Obama and Michelle, President Clinton and Senator Clinton. President Biden gave Harris a ringing endorsement and his full support.
Who was at the RNC? No President G. W. Bush, or any other of the Bush family. No Mitt Romney. No one. It was nothing but Trumpers. It's not just that this isn't your father's GOP, this isn't my GOP.
Centrist Democrats run the party, and that's a good thing.
