Nicolle Wallace is a former Republican and a Bush advisor, not a former Clinton advisor. She campaigned for McCain/Palin.
She is an example of someone who has been driven away from the Republican party by Trump.
As far as people switching parties, that is the direction most have gone since Trump took office.
Trump had one good day in November 2016 and since then Republicans have had mostly bad days with the exception of close wins in Florida.
This is why I find that the republican approval rating of 94% suspicious. It's basically a majority of tzees on the right and does not include those who were driven away due to being never trumpers or simply moderate Rs. The GOP has been gambling bigly on the accuracy of that rating, protecting him at all costs due to fear of falling out of favor with him and thus in their districts. It already hurt them in 2018. Either this strategy of tripling down on trump and partisanship is going to produce a win in Nov or they are going to get massacred.
