The NBA was not profitable in its first 3 decades. The WNBA can become "profitable" if the NBA cared.
WNBA can become profitable as soon as next year, when their TV rights fee will triple from the current contract. But NBA wants to keep control over WNBA so they will not pull out their money. It's their choice, and WNBA is going along with it.

WNBA AND NBA suck. no defense, whiny/soft players, no vested interest in teams from players. College basketball is far superior. Games actually mean something.

#9 seed William & Mary (NET ranking 275) made the first ever NCAA tournament by winning four games in four days, including the win over #1 NC A&T, in the CAA conference tournament. They also had to overcome a 14 pts deficit over Campbell in the final.
I just watch the highlights. There are a couple guys that highlight how many layups Angel Reese misses during a game, thinking she should be paid more. Yep, worth watching someone's ego getting the better of themselves. It's worth the laugh.

Since 1994 (when the tourney expanded to 64 teams), the #1, #2, and #3 seeds are 359-1 in the opening round.
The lowest seed to ever win the tournament was a #3 (only happened three times in 30 years), and the lowest seed to ever make a Final Four was #5.
By contrasts, six #11 seeds, one #10 seed, two #9 seeds, six #8 seeds, and three #7 seeds have made the Final Four in the men's tourney. Championships by a #6, a #7, and a #8.
There simply is no depth in college women's basketball.
