You don't want Bernie because he is too far left.
I don't want Bernie because he is too old.
Now, I did say that I prefer Biden over Bernie and they are about the same age. And I like Bernie's policies better.
I believe that it would be good if we had a single payer healthcare system at some point.
But I am a realist in what it would take to get there and that there would always be a private insurance option. I just have always seen Bernie as more of an activist to get people talking about progressive ideals. And he has been very successful at that.
I don't know how pragmatic he would be acting in the top spot.
I simply see Biden fitting that role better than Bernie, as you do.
This is why Elizabeth Warren fits my ideal best among the candidates.
I think being 7-8 years younger than them is a big plus.
I think she displays passion and will passionately pursue the progressive policies that I like.
And I think she would be more practical than Bernie with the eventual compromises that would be needed to pass something, as Obama was.
As a campaigner, she has shot herself in the foot at least three times, though.
1- She should never had let Trump bait her into even discussing her Native American background on old applications and taken that dumb DNA test.
2- She has tried to give too many details on her plans and people go over that with a microscope and nitpick things that may have issues. Being vague, unfortunately is a better campaign strategy.
3- Talking about a private conversation where Bernie allegedly said a woman couldn't get elected or it would be harder or whatever was not good. That made her look bitchy.
I do think she is electable. If she gets the nod, the campaign and march to November changes and people would love to see her as the one to beat Trump. People really, really, really want to see Trump lose. And losing to a woman would be that much sweeter.
And mostly, I see her doing well in the position as head of state.
She'd be more likely to get that public option passed because moderates would see that as a win against her Medicare for all.
