This whole argument so many of you have bought into is totally specious.

You are arguing that we should vote for Biden because Tiny thinks he will be the toughest to beat. That assumes two things:

1) Tiny actually thinks that Biden is the toughest opponent.

2) Tiny is a brilliant political strategist and we should care what he thinks.

Concerning assumption #1: I wouldn't dare to guess Tiny's thoughts. But the obvious reason he cooked up the Ukraine scheme is because Tiny believes that Biden will be his opponent rather than a fear of facing him.

Concerning assumption #2: Tiny is not a brilliant political strategist. He has won only a single election in his entire life. And a lot of things had to break his way to do it. In other words, he had a ton of luck.

I hear you. But I disagree with you.

In a two-party system we'll very rarely have a president who we agree with on everything. These big-tent parties are always compromises. So there is no ideal. The best we can do is put together some kind of amalgamation of who represents our individual values, who seems like a decent human being, and who can win.

To me, it's clear that in PA Biden will keep both the union white guys and the lefties. Whereas Sanders and Warren, who advocate for a complete banning of fracking, will completely lose the union vote, the energy vote,etc. They just won't vote to end their jobs. No matter how promising the view of green jobs down the road is.

While I think enviro Dems are going to hold their nose and vote for whoever runs against trump.

See the math there? This is totally legit.

And we have to win PA or we're dead. Biden wins PA and the election. Sanders loses PA and the election.

I get voting for your favorite in the primaries, but is anyone suggesting not to eventually vote for whichever functioning adult from the left runs against him???

Looks like tzees need FOX's constant filtering to stay in the haze... they aren't even allowed to watch the live feed of the trial.

All of today's polls will change after a candidate has been chosen and every week leading up to the election.

And Trump will keep doing things to hurt his image with the public.

And more bad things for Trump will keep coming out.

Bolton's book is coming out.

Lev Parnas keeps feeding leaked tapes to the media.

There will be rallies like you've never seen in October, before the election.

Bloomberg will keep making national anti-Trump adds.

So will Steyer.

Turnout will be very high, and that's always good for Democrats.

Trump didn't invent the strategy of using scare tactics, finding enemies of all sorts, demonizing them, then promising safety in the hands of a right-wing government that doesn't really serve the "kitchen table" interests of much of his base, but it's silly to think he's not damn good at it.

again, disagree per 538. They have Trump at 43% and Obama at 46% at this point in their presidencies.

to be honest, I'm not totally opposed to the old system. it prevents people like trump and sanders from getting to the front. It makes the likelihood of the nominee being competent greater.

Obama was at about 50% right before the election, when it mattered.

And it ended at 57% on his last day.

Trump is no Obama.

Yes, Trump would never have been the nominee in the old system, so you do have a point.

I actually would like to see this again. With the erosion of the intermediaries between the public and government - a glue of liberal democracies, parties are becoming vehicles for populists. A more hierarchical system actually served as a buffer for these people until a couple of decades ago. I'm not at all comfortable with unscreened and untested types being able to grab full control of the ship while their party bends the knee.

To elaborate further, the current level of democratization means less checks and barriers for the trumps of the world. If I have money and ability to manipulate the media, I can make a run for president without any experience and without the approval of those who do have experience and are well suited to evaluate me. Populism is awful.
