I wish any of it could make a difference but I think not. There is not a single GOP senators who cares to speak up and end up helping the Dems, not one. They are going to protect the king and they set the rules. Roberts will not have any significant role because the GOP is in charge and will not let him.
Technically, the GOP can vote on decisions by Roberts. But politically, it would be extremely bad to defy him.
I get what you are saying that it won't make a difference on the end result. And you are probably right.
But again, if this story can be corroborated and especially if even one Republican says he or she was threatened, this could change the game significantly.
