HI: Dem
That’s not right. MO has 10 electoral votes, for example.
The following get the minimum 3 electoral votes:
ND R
SD R
MT R
WY R
AK R
VT D
DE D
DC D
RI, NH, ME and HI all have 4 electoral votes along with ID.
The real issue is that all of those states get 2 senators. The same as California and Texas.
And senate votes determine this impeachment trial.
I put MO but I meant Montana.
But we don't really disagree.
True, in a political sense, as long as everyone votes politically without considering whether trump is a corrupt traitor (or whether he will be in future without any accountability). People talk politics until they have to vote. Definitely not a secret ballot.
Remember, they never even got a majority with Clinton, much less 2/3rds. Not all ‘pubs are traitors, some are just cowards.

Folks on here often say that "dirt does not vote." But it turns out that dirt does indeed vote. And it votes Republican.
That dirt does not vote 100% republican. There is no Red State that is 100% republican.
For presidential elections most states are 100% Republican or 100% Democrat. That is the way the EC works. As a result, for purposes of this discussion, every red state is 100% Republican .
And I love the media restrictions! Not only looks bad, but I doubt if libs are going to let Moscow Mitch keep them from giving elaborate accounts to NYT & Guardian while they’re on break; they’re allowed to take notes after all. So are people in the gallery.
Mitch can’t read or write and thinks everyone’s as stupid & incompetent as him. If necessary, stenographers can manually keep notes. That’s how they make their living, after all.

Trumps not wrong that joe has an advantage there. He’s wrong that Pelosi did this to hurt Bernie tho.
Trump is trying, as always, to divide Americans. It’s his favorite thing.
The dude was graduated from Wharton. We here at LetsRun post crap all the time. No one cares. But Trump is the president of the US - he needs to post stuff that is coherent and shows some kind of intelligence. Who lets him post this crap?
Glad you realize this, even if it took 4049 pages to get there.
Clearly we need to get this trial over quickly! To prolong the 2020 campaign! Without trump’s taxes, nor witnesses, nor a coherent defense, nor press coverage.
Dream on! Sux2BAtr8r!
I have heard quite a number of my Republican friends say yes trump was wrong to strong arm Zelensky but it wasn't an impeachable offense.
I asked one I know if Trump extorted Zelensky and would not send him the allocated money or give him a meeting unless Zelensky secretly sent Trump $100,000 would that be an impeachable offense.
He said yes.
Well Trump and his campaign is going to spend well over 800 million dollars to get Trump re-elected. Having a foreign government announce an investigation of corruption of Trump's Major political opponent would be huge and worth much more than 100 grand to Trump.
(Of course my Republican friend just said it was different but we know it's extortion for something very valuable)
I admire your patience. I find it annoying to be lied to in person by trump & his enablers. If they write it down, I can skim over it quickly and analyze the false elements. Fun & challenging.
My trumper friends, we just stay off politics & religion.
Reagan’s against Trump.

The operative word is "vote." The EC is not an actual vote. It is an appointment, either all, or split by percentage of the popular vote in certain states. As a result, for purposes of this discussion, Trump lost by the vote by over 3 million. Now, if EC electors were actually allowed to vote as they personally wished, your "it is all red dirt--even if 49.9% of that dirt voted for that evil democrat".

All things important right now point to a Democrat winning in November. The biggest problem for Democrats of course is that Trump has cheated again, and with cheating, you never really can be sure of the outcome. Trump will have a hard time winning MI, PA, and WI. Ohio is even leaning toward Biden if he gets the nomination. If all that happens, it is big time over. I have heard several times that Iowa might go blue, but all polling I have seen says Trump wins Iowa. Florida is a tossup.
Flagpole, what do you mean with "all things important right now point to a Dem winning in November?" The unemployment rate is at 50-year lows, all 3 of the stock market indices are at all-time highs, we are not at war with anyone, and many other things. Don't Dems find those things important? What are the important things that you refer to pointing to a Dem massacre in November?
Mostly meaning polling in important states. Scandal doesn't sit well with voters. The economy was pretty damn good when Trump took over, so in voters' minds, he hasn't done much to make it good...just continuing (on a slower rate even) on the path it was on. No Hillary on the ballot this time, no big third party candidate at this point that might take votes away from the Democrat candidate.
The problem for Democrats is that Trump has cheated once again, and cheating does help or people wouldn't do it. You should be ashamed of yourself for supporting this serial lying criminal dictator wannabe. I am ashamed of you.

Not sure that is true. Traitors are judged on their actions, not the reasons for their actions. Supporting such a corrupt President today is many things, but cowardice doesn't absolve anyone from any of those things.

I don't get how these outrageously stupid Trumpers allow themselves to be lied to while Trump drops the soap.
Hillary is not in prison and won't be.
No new wall, and Mexico sure in hell hasn't given us a penny for one.
He hasn't released his taxes like he said he would.
He said he'd bring troops home and stay out of armed conflict.
He has increased the debt tremendously after saying he would wipe it out in 8 years.
Said he would be the best president ever for LGBTQ people.
He hasn't done a single thing (I'm talking desirable things to traditional Republicans that isn't illegal) that any other Republican President wouldn't have done. Instead, he cozies up to dictators, solicits foreign governments to get involved in our elections, thumbs his nose at the Emoluments Clause, which he calls "phony" (nice to know our President believes something in The Constitution is "phony").
He's a criminal. He's a serial liar. He's immoral. Shame on you Trumpers.

The only two responses I ever get are 1) they voted for trump because he was the lesser of two evils and that they would vote Dem if someone decent ever ran, and 2) all politicians are corrupt but at least trump is fighting for conservative priorities. Thankfully I don’t know any trumpers who think he’s actually intelligent or that he’s a good leader. Still, when you get these type of responses you realize they are so far out there that there’s no room for debate.

On a serious note, we should all assume no witnesses will be heard and public opinion won’t shift quickly enough to make a difference in the outcome. While there is no way he is given the boot, I could see a couple of scenarios where this impeachment ends up helping Dems:
1. The GOP jams an acquittal vote through without entertaining a debate for hearing additional witnesses. This could backfire badly through election.
2. They start to debate trump’s defense with actual substance. They can’t because there is no defense, until they call him clumsy or stupid or unfit to serve.
If they stick to the argument that by definition he should have never been impeached to begin with, and make it look like they are putting on a semi fair trial they’ll escape this without much damage to trump.
There are people quite literally interested in starting a Civil War today in Richmond in the battle over gun rights.

The trial won't change anything, unless something very dramatic happens.
The Rs are the Trumpist party now - they by defiinition cannot change, and any voter who is not disgusted by trump already won't care about the trial.
Same for the Ds.
What could change that is something dramatic - if four Trumpist senators voted for witnesses or the Ds are too sanctimonious.
But really...what hte last year or two has shown is that the battle lines are drawn and nothing changes them.

A lot of these individuals believe they are protecting their families but they are actually infecting them with paranoia, fear, division and hate. Basically giving birth to generations of ignorant people who are much more likely to commit suicide and harm others accidentally then they are to protect anyone. Regardless, the discussion is not about IF one can be armed, but to what limits. At what point does high gun ownership rate and almost unrestricted access to acquiring arms start to limit and infringe other rights?
