Of note: When Bernie told Warren a women could not become president, he forgot something important. Hillary would be president if Sanders stayed out of the race in 2016. If Warren gets the nomination, I expect Clueless Bernie to run as an independent once again, and prevent yet another woman from becoming president.
I voted for Hillary, though not in the primary. I thought she was the worst candidate the Democrats have put forward in a generation. Can a woman win? Of course, but not any woman. As for Bernie's comment--I don't accept that it was a globalized statement about women in politics, as Warren and others are trying to make it out to be. Warren would never have mentioned it had she not been slipping in the polls. Bernie was supporting woman in politics for decades when Elizabeth Warren was still a member of the Republican party.I have always thought a woman can and should be president, and I was dismayed by the Hillary supporters who were more ardent than me--such as my wife--who told me after Trump won that "we just need a man to run". I told her then and I'd say again that I believe we can most definitely elect a woman President--but not a neoliberal who has switched positions so many times she does not even know where she really stands on major positions. Am I talking about Hillary Clinton there? Yes, but in some respects I could also be talking about Elizabeth Warren. Aside from all of the above, the Democrats have very slim odds in the upcoming 2020 election. The US is effectively now in the hands of a plutocratic oligarchy, and they have a lot of support from poor voters with not enough knowledge about their predicament to know better. Trump said he loves the "poorly educated"--there is a reason why he said that. It's because those are most of his voting base. No doubt I will be called elitist for saying this. I was the first person in my family to go to college. I have love and deep respect for those who do not have much formal education, especially those who even without much formal education take it upon themselves to understand politics and teach themselves. So--for different reasons than Trump--I love the "poorly (formally) educated"--but I despise the world Trump and his wealthy supporters crave, where working people are reduced to a cowed, peasant class who have blind loyalty to their wealthy betters. We had that system in the Middle Ages. That was when about 2% of the population lived past age 35. I'd rather not go back there.
Your defense of Bernie is #sad.
Real American Conservatives it is time to recall your party.

I will take Bernie’s lifetime record over Elizabeth Warren’s any day. Do I think everything the man has ever said was wise? No. But is the most consistent representative or the poor and middle class voters we have with a shot at making a difference right now. I am happy to have Warren as a Senator, but I do not trust her.

why do you actively not trust warren? That's a strong statement.
Dems have to be careful not to keep their eyes on the goal of beating trumpism...posts like yours go in the opposite direction.
typo. Dems have to keep their eyes on the real prize: defeating Trumpism.

I will vote for whomever is the Democratic candidate--without fail--as I always do. But living in the part of Massachusetts where I live, I have seen Warren fail to show at three events where she promised to attend. I have seen her make commitments to convene with other New England legislators about the concerns of small business owners, and simply not followed up every damn time. I still admire her in many ways, but I do not trust her word.
Why do people say Democrats have slim odds of winning this fall?
They have done the majority of the winning sinceTrump’s election.
They won back the House.
They have a Dem senator representing Alabama and Arizona.
Virginia has gone blue at every state level for the first time in decades.
They had a lot of gains in PA, WI and MI. States that Trump cannot lose but will have trouble keeping.
He’s going to lose Arizona. Florida may determine the whole thing and that is straight 50/50.
Iowa will probably swing Dem.
All that is regardless of who the Dem nominee is.
Don’t underestimate the power of hate. People hate Trump.
A 52% disapproval rating means those people aren’t voting for him.
He absolutely needs a third party candidate to take Dem votes or absorb Republican defectors that won’t vote for him.
If there are no serious third party candidates, Trump can’t win.

I heard that Trump cannot win once before. Did not turn out well.
Trump is the incumbent. Trump has virtual total control of the headlines just by being Trump. Trump has a strong economy. Trump has an electoral college system rigged for the GOP. Plus, there are ignoramuses born every minute.
Do NOT underestimate his chances of winning.
I didn’t say he can’t win. I asked why people think he would be favored.
The electoral college doesn’t so much favor the GOP as it does over reward winning swing states with the winner take all system.
Hillary wins FL plus MI and she’s president.
Those aren’t GOP strongholds.

Well then, vote for him instead of Trump.

If Sanders and Stein did not run in 2016 then Hillary would be president.

fair enough - good that you have first hand knowledge rather than just reading what journalists give you.
My own warren history is good - I was in a restaurant/bar in Boston and she came in to shake hands with someone winning sort sort of civic org award. She was very friendly and seemed to enjoy mingling with the crowd for a while.
But I really dont' like her politics. Too left for me.

no one is saying odds are slim...it's a 50/50 or 60/40 proposition.
Political change is happening in the upper midwest - with all those states newly in play, no one is sure how the election will play out.
And all believe turnout on both sides will be massive...which makes prophesy very difficult. Can't go by past results because turnout will be heavier.
And incumbent presidents hardly ever lose elections, esp when the economy is good. But trump is uniquely hated and loved, so...

I asked earlier what would Republicans do if Trump lost.
I think Trump would immediately begin campaigning for 2024.
He may enjoy that more than being a lame duck. He likes campaigning.
Though, he may wind up in jail like many of his associates.
I really hope he does - basically would ensure a Dem win. But rest assured if he loses the GOP will make sure to hang him high and not let him trip them up.

tweets like this offer a reflection of how stupid and simple minded trump thinks people are - unfortunately he’s quite right

I have to agree with you on that. I read that thing three times and still trying to make heads and tails of it.
