Objectively, it's actually the leaders leading and not the sheep. If there was a shred of integrity on the right and GOP senators reject him it would send a convincing message to trump supporters that their leader is corrupt and needs to go, many would change their minds as a result. Their endorsement doesn't make trump a good leader or right for the country or any less criminal, it just signals to the sheep that it's the right way to go. Leadership and integrity are everything in times like these.
it's a combination, right? It's a combination of leaders and followers. If either moves in one direction, so will the other. But so far, only on margins have R voters moved away from the leaders. Not enough to pull the leaders away.
We get the government we deserve. If we vote in amoral liars, it's as much our fault as the amoral liars' fault.
I think the leaders have much more pull as they are less beholden to the electorate. We know who their real masters are so they sit there and make their messages fit. They use public emotion to redirect anger at their opposition to distract instead of holding themselves accountable and taking ownership of the country's problems. Look at trump, every single bad thing that has ever happened to him is someone else's fault. Look at the GOP, no matter how crooked he is they call out the Dems instead. Do you really consider trumpanzees a well informed bunch?
