Until today, I'd never heard of Stuyvesant High School. It meant absolutely nothing to me.
I looked it up, it still means nothing to me.
TBF Stuyvesant is a badash place. It's absurdly hard to get into, a full meritocracy, no way for government to put its thumb on the admissions scale for ethnic equality, tons of wildly ambitious immigrant families competing for spots...and then you have to start your academic career among the smartest kids in NYC.
something like 70% Asian now...it used to be probably 70% Jewish but that's how NYC rolls.
It's a major feeder school to all the Ivies of course.
It's one of the only high schools that means something if you went there.
And a miracle that its admissions policy has not been watered down to get more black and hispanic kids in. No real idea why it has survived. But it's a relic of the success of immigration. Mostly poor and middle class first generation Asian kids.
Do the students come to school in a Black Hawk with a door gunner?

They take the subway. By themselves.
Badass.

seriously though, many have hour-long subway commutes from far away to get there...it's that important to their families that they accept admission there. It's like the golden ticket in Willy Wonka. And I'll say it again - these are mostly poor and middle class first and second gen immigrant kids.

Meh, it's high school.
Long Beach Poly has a much more impressive list of alumni, you don't have to take an admissions test to go there.

no, no Poly does not. That's a really inaccurate thing to say. I can't imagine any other HS in America being even close to the quality of Stuyvesant alumni. I mean it's absurdly amazing. Four nobel laureates at the tippy top, but a long list of distinguished alums.

That said, if someone bragged about going to Long Beach Poly, I'd have the same feelings as I do about the Stuyvesant guy. So what. It means nothing to me.
I merely brought it up because it produces very successful graduates without a rigorous admissions process.
President Donald Trump discussed budget cuts to the Defense Department today. He mentioned that he expects to cut billions from the Defense Department budget, with Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) set to audit the Pentagon to find billions or even hundreds of billions of dollars in what he described as "fraud and abuse."
Is he really going to take on the MIC?
2nd most powerful group in America (behind only the Israel "Lobby").
The incidence of heart attacks and strokes was lower after COVID-19 vaccination than before or without vaccination, according to a new study involving nearly the whole adult population of England.

It's just high school.
this is a silly discussion.
the LB Poly list is probably 33-40% athletes. They shouldn't count for much.

But no need to go on here - agree to disagree.
He’s a dime a dozen internet hater.
The worst are the failed musicians. Guys who couldn’t sell out their local bar but say the Beatles were overrated. 😂
