If the Senate, after a legit trial acquits Trump, can we finally let this die? Can we acknowledge that Trump was exonerated? Or will we go from the Mueller investigation which found nothing, to an impeachment that was entirely partisan, and on to a Senate acquittal. Can we finally let this die and allow Trump to preside over the country?

If the witnesses confirm Trump's guilt, but the Senate lets him off the hook, he will absolutely not be exonerated. Was O.J. exonerated by his acquittal?

A slam dunk proving nothing... he was empowered by US Congress to take those actions. Did trump ask Congress if they were ok with him requesting a personal political favor from the Ukrainian president?

Would you insist on Joe and Hunter Biden testifying? Of course you would if you want all the facts laid out. Russia has been currently hacking Burisma Holdings and we need to find out why and how. How can you suggest that Joe and Hunter Biden not testify in their relationship with Burisma?

The Senate trial is about what Trump did in relation to Ukraine. The accusation is that Trump didn't even care about an investigation; he just wanted an announcement of one. That's got nothing to do with the Bidens.

All these empty promises of going after the deep state. NOTHING is stopping trump via DOJ from looking into Joe and any other political enemies, but amazingly they don't.. hmmm. Hey Sally, how did that HRC investigation go?

Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz said in a new interview that he is “open” to the Senate calling more witnesses in an impeachment trial, including the Trump-Ukraine whistleblower.

“As it concerns witnesses, I am open to the possibility of the Senate hearing witnesses, in particular because the way House conducted itself,” Cruz said Tuesday on the Hugh Hewitt Show. “It was a one-sided show trial on the House side. They denied the minority the ability to call witnesses in the House. That was contrary to the precedents that were set with both the Clinton impeachment and the Nixon impeachment.”

“House Democrats this time decided it was only going to be one-sided. They’d only bring prosecution witnesses. They wouldn’t allow the White House to cross-examine them. And so it was entirely a one-sided deck of cards.”

The senator also said that if President Donald Trump wants to hear the whistleblower testify, or Hunter Biden testify, the Senate should call those witnesses.

“In the Senate, if the president wants to call witnesses in his defense, I believe the Senate should let the president do that. If the [White House] wants to call Hunter Biden, if the [White House] wants to call the whistleblower, due process dictates that he have the opportunity to present his defense,” Cruz said.

Other Republicans such as Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul have also signaled support for calling the whistleblower as a witness.

Though Cruz didn’t specifically offer his position on the Senate allowing former White House official John Bolton to testify, a possible agreement to include more witnesses could mean a last minute fight over the inclusion of people that Democrats want too.

New York Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer, the minority leader, has said that he wishes to see acting White House chief-of-staff Mick Mulvaney and former White House aide John Bolton testify in the Senate trial.

Utah Republican Sen. Mitt Romney said that he would be open to hearing Bolton testify last week, and Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski recently admitted she was “curious” about what the former UN ambassador would have to say.

Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has been firm in his position to hold the trial in the Senate with no witness testimony.

For the last time the GOP is not interested in witnesses relevant to the trump impeachment trial. The WH has obstructed the investigation and the GOP will ensure they shut the rest of it out from any reasonable process. You just have to look at the defense so far to get a good sense of trump's guilt. It's pretty straight forward.

You only want witnesses who can potentially hurt Trump. The House impeachment hearing was a partisan debacle. Do you want a fair Senate trial? If so you can't just want witnesses who can hurt Trump. He needs to be able to defend himself. Why are you opposed to having witnesses testify who can exonerate him? Are you about having a fair trial or ONLY about having a trial to convict him? Do you want the truth or just want him removed from office? Please tell me what you want.

None of your desired witnesses listened to the call, discussed Ukraine with Trump or were out in the field with Giuliani. How can they exonerate Trump?
