He obviously has potential to be a good ultra runner but a win is a bit optimistic. Top 10 might be possible. The reality is marathon times aren't a great indicator when you approach 100k distance - it's much more about running economy and durability and people who run marathons in mid/low 2:20s can beat 2:10 marathon runners over comrades distance.
He placed 3rd globally in Wings for Life last year.

A while ago he done the wings for life run and came third globally, covered 70km while having sever nutrition/toilet issues part way, I think it's performances like that which make people think he has the legs for ultras
Nick Bester shaves another 12 seconds off his world class Vitality 10k time to go sub-29 in Brighton! (accounting for the sub zero temperatures and gale-force seaside winds)

Sirpoc was a no-show, Sad!
Amazing for a big man and so much better for the socials than 40th in the Surrey Cross Country League. I heard it was brutal down there today but hasn't stopped him gaining an England vest. Not bad for a gobby Bok who only arrived in England on a boat. Kudos.
Yes definitely has potential but wings for life and comrades are completely different in terms of depth of competition. Wings for life isn't on most serious ultra runner's radar

Fair play to him for his performance today. He seems like he’s definitely in sub 2:20 shape, potentially in the 2:18 range if his endurance can hold up. I think he’s very likely to at least PB
Outstanding run again from Nick, looking in great form going into Valencia. Especially given Storm Claudia and the gale force winds in brighton today. If he carries on this trajectory, it wouldn't surprise me if he represents team GB at LA in 2028

You joke (I think) but this is legitimately an outstanding performance. Storm Claudia has been horrendous and I know many people who had to drop out today in Brighton or were much slower than their aim due to the torrential rain and gusts of wind which were terrifying at times. I should know, I was there spectating and my blooming umbrella kept going inside out!!
Nick keeps getting better and better. As he approaches 40, I predict he will start eyeing the ultra scene and becoming the best 40+ marathoner in Great Britain. If he started running at a younger age it’s likely he’d be competing with the likes of Cairess
Impressive time but It was not windy and temperature was perfect. Nick Bester also got out kicked by an ultra runnner.
Well he has run ultras but he's run far more 5000s, basically he couldn't bear being beaten by Bester so left it all out there. Credit to Nick for the motivation.
At least the Brighton 10k is a legit measured course. Meanwhile the RunThrough [top flight] 10k in Fulham was no doubt a short course. Some of those times by athletes that have had mediocre training on that course with all of the twists and turns is very suspect.

Sota Maehara trying to make up for missed injury weeks. Sounds unhinged (this is a coach ...) but let's see.
Context: 12 days til mara, I’m gonna basically try hit every intensity every single day, do a bunch of double and triple days (but short runs, so less mechanical load, and more gains amongst all intensities) Because I’ve done 4500+km this entire year before stopping running for 3 weeks straight, hoping 12 days is enough time to get a bit of fitness back to be able to run at least an average marathon time (all expenses paid overseas trip, so gotta deliver as much as possible. Otherwise I wouldn’t be doing this stupid training). Other small tactics, gonna do heat training for easy runs and layer up. And also for any run more than 60 mins, I’m taking gels to speed up recovery and lower RPE for the run the next day Also gonna supplement a lot of the training days with lots of standing and walking to add on to time on feet
If RTJ was anyone else he would be getting ridiculed so hard on this thread for these ChatGPT based decisions. Why race a half when 'tapering' and on the brink of an injury. Just pointless but I guess that's the fun.
I am a big fan of RTJ but I cringe so hard when people say they have "asked chat gpt" about stuff like this. I hope/think it was said as a bit of a joke.

As a massive Bester fan, I really hope so. It’s been tough watching our main rival Matt Fox hold the upper hand in the marathon PB battle this last year or so and I’d give anything for Nick to regain the crown in Valencia
