Yea, this looks to be it. Trump is stuck now. He tweeted that he would retaliate. It's obvious now his handlers are restraining him. I first thought that we would retaliate by hitting their oil fields and refineries like we did in the 80s. Now I don't think there will be any sort of retaliation by Trump. Also, Iraq is going to kick us out....again. We'll probably be back the next time they can't handle some growing group of malcontents (ISIS, etc).

Tiny will always strike people before he strikes oil facilities. A spike in oil prices might harm his election chances. Killing ordinary Iranian citizens won't.

I don't see how this can be seen as anything but a huge win for Trump, and I hate Trump. Takes out a major leader of terrorism in the middle east in exchange for a couple bombed runways in Iraq? Great exchange. I still think it was ridiculously risky and I didn't support it, but it turned out much better than I expected.

Regardless, he has set the Middle East peace process backwards and everyone in the world is worse off.

Iran was still abiding by the nuclear agreement that it signed with other nations. Since Tiny killed Soleimani Iran has decided to fully withdrawal from this agreement.

This whole episode just further proves Obama was on the right track with the deal. We let them sell their oil while we got to verify their nuclear production, while keeping their covert actions relatively contained in the region. Soule as monstrous as he was, probably did more to fight ISIS with the Russians than we could ever have. The region was being forced to deal with Iran on its own. Morons spewing lies about us giving them cash are a lost cause. We let them sell their oil, that does not equate to direct US aid... ridiculous. If even it did, a small price to pay for peace. All these seemingly expensive mechanisms to maintain order and bridge political gaps (including the UN) are a very small price to pay for the high amount of world peace and stability the world has experienced since WWII. Nationalist nutjobs can't help themselves though and want to latch on to warmongering and hatred.

Yes. Iran is a very challenging foreign policy situation for any president. I think Obama managed it as well as could be expected. What shocks me is how few Americans know of, or are willing to believe, the damage we did to our relationship with Iranians by overthrowing their democratically elected leader in 1953, and then by supporting the brutal regime of the Shah. Even despite this, many Iranians think well of Americans—but what we did to their country was truly among the most evil deeds of the Cold War. It was done to protect the oil profits of a few men and it forced generations of Iranians to live under a series of awful regimes, including the current one of course. The USA is a wonderful place to live for some of us, but it exports some pretty awful foreign policy.

Agree, the overall story isn’t something most care to analyze.

Trump has made war-mongering personal, though, at a time when few want it, nobody wants to pay for it, and few think it’s necessary; meanwhile contradicting all his promises.

It’s funny when you say few will vote for him, and think how many more things he can screw up by November, if he even runs at all.
