Right now, it is next to impossible to do an XC rankings for the individuals coming out of California! Zavaleta/Turk were the fastest Cali runners at Woodbridge and they didn't even go to NXN last year, Evan Noonan is a question mark right now, and it looks like many top individuals may not even race at Clovis.

“Noonan won’t come close” is wild. Sure, he had a bad race at Woodbridge, but I think we may underestimating him a bit. This is the same Noonan who ran 13:39 as a junior. I definitely feel he will put up a good fight with Totenson and Kitchen. Maybe he won’t break the record, but not coming close to it is definitely a crazy take.

At-large NXN bids should not have any affect on Cal teams racing schedule this year, since the chances of a Cal at-large is so miniscule. If they truly want to focus on making NXN, then the state meet is all that matters.
Trabuco Hills, Ventura, and Santiago are all top 10 teams nationally. So what ya talking about?
Not many people have been talking about the smaller school divisions, but St Mary’s of Berkeley (d4). Looked really good at Artichoke today. Won the small schools race by 100 points.
I’ve been looking for divisional rankings to see where they stack up in d4, but haven’t found any. They’ve got to be top 5 at least though.
Fitchen Young dominated them and he's probably running 14:45 at state. Being over 30 seconds behind him on a short course is not a good sign. JSerra and Oaks are both probably putting 3 or 4 runners faster than 15:30 at state. It's really just a 2 horse race where JSerra has massive depth and Oaks only has 5 runners but higher potential.
I would say St Mary is 3rd or 4th at worst in the state right now. It just depends on how they match up vs Palos Verdes who seem to be around their level.
Fitchen-Young ran 14:49 last year. There's no reason to believe he couldn't go faster than 14:45 this year. He's been lightly raced and looked comfortable yesterday. He's got to be a contender for an individual NXN berth.
As far as St. Mary's goes. I said top 5 at least. Their #5 guys time probably converts to somewhere around 16:30 at Woodward, while their top guys look to be 15:30 ish. I haven't really been following what's going on statewide this year as I don't have a team that will competitive, even if we can squeak out a berth at state. I just thought they looked pretty good, that's all.

Clovis weather looks ok this year for the majority of the Saturday races and the invitationals on Saturday. High 60's low 70's for the morning looks as best as you can expect at this time of the year up there. Could have easily been low 80's on a bad day

great interview as for my feedback i really like the way you do interviews. keep it funny shorter and mostly just focus on running related stuff. i never liked the whole icebreaker/non related running stuff. just keep about about races, racing stategies, funny stuff like going to disneyland instead of woodbridge, loved the awkward music at times, great interview
