Ok, 6th place at nxn ain’t bad but to hype yourself up the whole season calling yourselves #1 and then get 6th at nxn is just hilarious.
Herriman also didn’t have their number 1 guy due to sickness. Quit making excuses buddy. lastly the only course record cba has broken is the freshman course record. which yeah if breaking underclassmen records as a senior is what ur calling “ripping this fall” then be my guest.
Face it blud you ain’t winning this argument
6th is very good. Anyone who places top 10 at nxn is deserves the hype.

But the problem is they hype themselves up all year. They say they are #1 after losing to Niwot who returns everyone and some extra(return top 14). They overvalue track times and ignore altitude conversions which show they are about equal with Niwot in track and Niwot does better at cross.

Northeast/NY want to win and that's normal. They been on a losing streak recently and they hope that this is the year they can get back in this. With CBA getting 6th and returning good track times, this could a podium year for them. I myself am guilty of hyped up the california region last year way too much, to the point of being obnoxious. As long as it's not a jesuit la situation, I don't see a problem with hype. Jesuit La was so far off from what people were saying they were at. 8th in south region and 4th running lane, despite being ranked above newbury park
Belen Jesuit in Florida just raced again. Pretty stagnant so we know who they are. 5 under 15:50 again so consistent, but maybe not enough firepower this year. 5th ranking sounds right.

To be clear, "They" is not the team or the coaches. It seems like many outlets, Dyestat, milesplit, Tully think CBA has some good races in the fall and in the spring. The team deserves credit for that. The people at NXN have made the move to equal the playing field a bit by moving NXR NE back a week. That will give the northeast a week off before NXN. It's not quite the same as the 2 weeks the SW gets, but it is closer to parity. Thanksgiving with your family, rush out to travel to NY, race on the toughest regional course, fly out Wednesday or Thursday, race NXN...9 days.
Also altitude on the track is something we all need to consider. Scientifically it affects effort. However, it is a bit overblown on here and I believe the science is lacking in several areas, most notably altitude conversions for those living at altitude and those not. for instance, athletes living at 6k may be affected less when racing at 4500' compared to the same race for a sea level athlete. If anyone has articles about this, please share them.
And do not ignore humidity. I saw workouts from a few Texas kids recently and the humidity was off the charts. That also affects performance.
NXN is a monster of a race. On the boys side, it's not always about who the best team is all year. Niwot was very good last year and finished 4th in their region. They clearly ran better at NXN. Let's not pretend that they were 5th in the USA all year. Coach and athletes ran their best at NXN, like Herriman.

They were actually 5th all year. Their performance at their state meet was only within a few seconds average of one of cheyenne mountain's state record. The same Cheyenne Mountain that averaged 14:40s at huntsville park. Lots of people in the west took note of this.
Herriman's top runner was out, and their #5 was back, they still won.

tbh I am the biggest cheyenne mountain 2021 hater but I will admit that was one of the all time top tier teams

If we are talking about a team that I believe had a great race at nxn, that would be downers grove north. Either that or past teams that hit the similar team averages at NXR Midwest just ran terrible at nxn.

Cheyenne hate? But why? Is this Coronado poster?
Not like it matters, as 'knee-watt' is going to do what 'knee-watt' does. Again.
What would be nice is if a couple of these teams could stop running fast, flat, hard surface courses and put down a time on a more challenging, hilly course, so we can get a better idea of how they would look at both State as well as NXN.

I agree that Niwot was 5th all year but stayed under the radar. Also, the Niwot team didn’t run their best race at NXN last year—their #2 runner from the state meet ended up as their 7th runner at NXN. No team runs a perfect race at NXN, which is why depth matters.
I think the speed ratings are a little off for this course and that they should be higher. It's a hilly course with uneven footing at around 5500'. To put it into perspective, Benjamin Adams ran 15:38 on this course last year (the only to break 16 on it in 2023) and placed 9th at Footlocker. The Niwot team just averaged 15:44 on this course. Niwot has only run on hilly courses at altitude this year. It will be interesting to see what they run on a fast course, like Desert Twilight, at the end of the month.
alright buster now you've done it, I have had it up to here with the cba disrespect, Mcafferty and Lunny have done a great job with the group of guys they have. The fact of the matter is, this group is miles and miles better than the team they had last year which was statistically the best team they ever had, and to think that this year's team will shatter their records is just mind boggling. I think its time to wake up and face the facts, CBA will win it all this year by a thin margin, rumor has it the entire top 7 will be placed into quarantine between NXR and NXN to avoid any diseases they may contract like they have in the past. I look forward to hearing your response come december when CBA is holding the trophy.
What’s with all these embarrassing teams and these cba comments are out of pocket they STINK and the lake George renegades are FAKE stop with these bad teams because the only good teams are from the southwest
