You can be sure that if kids were on a school team misbehaving on social media there would be swift consequences.
Good point. Well then, go try to ruin their careers, I guess.
What else would make sense considering the harshness of liking a emoji tweet of questionable intent?
Maybe you can tear down something that the guy spent decades of hard work and goodwill to build up in one quick motion! People like you are the WORST!!!
My guy. You seem personally involved here.
I never called for ruining anyone’s career. Nor did I call for tearing anyone down-that’s what got us here in the first place, remember?
So let me be clear about what I was saying. It is NEVER ok for an adult let alone an educator or coach from a school to mock, tear down, make fun of, or humiliate a KID online. EVER. FULL STOP. Sorry but they are held to a higher standard as happens in many other professions.
I have seen kids lives destroyed for stupid stuff they posted online and teachers have reported them and had them suspended or expelled. Interesting how that seems ok to you but we should turn the other way in this. A picture of the runner and adults mocking her.
The parents of this girl should report this. I would not be happy if my daughter was the subject of this post and the adults who hold positions of authority were mocking her. Would you like that?? There should be consequences. And to be clear I mean an APOLOGY.
If being the WORST means I don’t want adults to harass KIDS especially online then I guess I will be the worst.

No. Just no. People are jumping to conclusions, and your blowing it out of proportion. There is no reason to believe the photo was posted with the intention to hurt someones feelings. The photo could have been posted in good humor, and probably had no intention for that. Stop trying to bring down the people that are trying their best.

no wonder Doug Soles had to leave California. You people are crazy and get offended by the slightest thing. If you haven't mentioned it, most people probably wouldn't have noticed it.

Good humor? does the runner think this was in good humor? How many high school girls like good humor posts made about them having to walk part of a race? I know of ZERO.

Where can we move so that we can openly laugh at kids on social media? And then pretend we are morally better than everyone because we are teachers. sounds like a dream!

nobody was openly laughing at the kid on social media. At-least that wasn't the intention until "this person or whoever misinterpreted the photo" on letsrun said that "Rich Gonzalez liked Jserra coach's comment that was an eyeroll." Because people were misinterpreting the photo, it was deleted.
Now the crazy people and their delusion come on here in letsrun looking for their perfect opportunity to bring someone down.
I am not a coach, just an athlete. But just stop this. Focus your hate channel on something else.
All Rich did was post a picture and said the runner got ahead of everyone, walked up the hill a little, continued the race, and won! He was summarizing the race. He had no intention of harassing someone online.
You people don't understand old people. They lose their common sense and do stuff like this all the time oblivious on how other interpret it.

***It was the BUCHANAN coach that posted the eye roll. It was the JSERRA runner who was the focus of the post. Just to keep it straight.
Thank you for clearing this up. So he told you that is why the post was deleted? I think that’s great. I think people just want an acknowledgement and an apology to the athlete. That’s not a crazy hate channel ask. For what it’s worth. Rich Gonzales is amazing and I think that is why people are so disappointed by this. I don’t know anyone that hates him-much the opposite. And that is why it is upsetting that he was involved in this. If everyone misunderstood his intent he should say that and I think everything would be fine. But you digging your heels into the crazy California snowflake narrative is just making it look more and more that no one cares that a kid was the center of all of this.

No he never told me that was the reason why it was deleted. People are misinterpreting his intentions as harassment, when it could of just been a common sense mistake. These mistakes are made a lot, especially with old people that are obsessed with numbers (aka cross country and track).
I don't think what Rich did was the big problem, that is just some people putting their own interpretations on a post and assuming the worst. For me, the big problem is here on LetsRun, where a poster says "...having their first girl WALK today in the middle of a race until the next group caught her is so disgraceful to the sport. Ok, you are good we get it, but have some class. ". This isn't leaving it up to others interpretations, this is stating in a factual way that is was done just to show how good they are, but there is absolutely no evidence of this, and every reason to think this wouldn't be the case. That's the stuff that really needs to stop.

I can get on the same page as you here. Where I think people are upset is arguing that it is no big deal that it was a kid. Easy for everyone (reasonable anyway) to say probably shouldn’t have posted that and it was not meant the way some took it. I can agree to that. I also think the same should be said for the Buchanan coach tk be involved. Probably bad judgement and shouldn’t have gotten involved.
Holy sh?t, you must not know very many people or are actually Rich Gonzalez. I know plenty of people who cant stand the guy. Talk about a guy only in it for himself.
SJ section champs are ran on a super hard course called willow hills yesterday. Not a well known course but its 5k and over 300ft of elevation gain.
Main stuff from yesterday was Broen Holman is a beast and will be an individual qualifier for NXN.
Oakdale has a great shot at NXN especially if they beat Dana Hills which they are definitely capable of doing. Jesuit was just recently ranked number 5 in state but they did struggle yesterday due to an illness that spread through the team. Ponderosa has a solid 1/2 with Chu and Brooks and should podium in D3 at state.
Whitney girls have a solid lineup and so do Oak Ridge as they had good days yesterday.
I would say overall a weaker year for SJ Section but still some solid talent to look out for in two weeks.
I was out there yesterday and the morning conditions for d3-d5 were better conditions than d1/d2 races so thats why times may look slower than past years as it was definitely warmer.

Yeah no, Oakdale will not beat Dana Hills nor do they have a good chance at that. You have better odds of betting that you will find a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow than Oakdale beating Dana.
