I don't understand why i can't run the course when the actual race is taking place. It's literally closed to everyone not running the race.

Just got back in. Didn't see any cops at the start but saw like 3 or 4 on the course. Gave them the ol' fingerwag and kept running.
Can't believe people would risk not running Boston on Patriot's day just so they can have an asterisk later in the year, if it's even held in 2020.

QFE here. The roads won't be closed to vehicles so a large number of people running the course would be dangerous just for that reason. I guess not many motorist on the roads these days but still. Also it's a point to point course so what do you plan to do when you reach the finish line? Walk 26 miles back to the start?
Also you are acting like it was an unjust reason to cancel the marathon so running the course in protest or defiance just makes you look like a fool and will get lumped in with legit expressions to reopen businesses over the coming weeks and months. Pick your damn battles.

Seems like a dumb - attention seeking idea to me. You can easily run a marathon TT in a much safer environment (for yourself and other people). Running towards downtown Boston when you know many other ppl will be doing the same isn't too smart. Also, you'll be completely missing out on the benefits of the Boston Marathon (crowd, ambiance, other runners etc...)

Have to agree. Actually, the evils of segregation pale compared to the horrors of not being allowed to run the official Boston marathon course on Patriot's day.
Why can't people just stay off the course for one day that local government has asked?

Explain the difference between not running on the BAA course vs. running on your own? Did you need any first responders today on your run? On any run? I'm glad a bunch of brave patriots ran the BAA course today, especially that kid that ran 2:36. Solid solo effort.
