Totally! I would definitely think a coach with 4 years of experience coaching high school kids has a better handle on appropriate paces than the tools created by hacks like Daniels, Tinman and McMillian. Even though all of them think the paces are too fast, there is no way the Newbury coach could be overly excited to see some super fast high school kids PR in practice for their 1000 repeats. I’m sure you’re right.

Wow. I actually have no hate. I’ve never met the coach, don’t know anyone who knows the coach and live 50 miles away from the community of the school. I have no ties to their program or any program that competes with them in any way. I’m sure he’s a fantastic guy and is probably a really good coach. I proposed exactly what you said. To let us play out. I never said I was right, I was just saying that according to widely accepted formulas that have been around a long time, used by many, that the paces they are running are too fast. Those calculators/formulas could be wrong, but you seem very certain that they’re not.

I stumbled on a thread talking about an amazing workout a high school kid did, questioned if the pace per K was too fast and somehow I’m full of hate and trying to tear down a coach? Yikes! Why are the defenders so angry and sensitive to any possible criticism? I thought that debating training was one of the main topics on these forums.

That thread, people were actually bashing the GO program, saying they ruin their runnners. This thread just debated the difficulty of the workout and questioned whether it was sustainable.

That thread, nobody from GO got all butt hurt and cried about being criticized. This thread, the fan boi groupies called all that didn’t hail their coach as the best in the country haters and whined about them tearing down the coach for not agreeing that he is the best coach in the country.
