actually I just read the article in the OP, lol. Per the facts stated in only the first page, she met the definition of a whistleblower. My bad lol

How can Kara claim to be a whistleblower when she performed no such role, not even the remotest sense of the word?
She only said things like "The truth will come out, you will see", which while somewhat salient, leaves a great deal of the "whistleblower" role up to 3rd parties.
She mentioned there is a problem, but left out the how/what/specifics/individuals/roles or any relevant details.
Thats not how whistleblowing works. Thats how being a drama queen works. Whistleblowers provide evidence.
Whistle-blowers don't need to provide evidence to the general public, only to the authorities. In fact, it's not that hard to think of lots of reasons why a whistle-blower would want to keep information private.
We just don't know what she has provided confidentially to the authorities.

I enjoyed the interview.
I think another interview needs to be done. No one has asked the obvious question during this scandal. Here are my questions for Kara.
1) What did she see in April 2011 and at the end of 2011 Worlds that made her leave the team? Is that mentioned anywhere? I believe it was IVs and what not but am not sure if that's in the public record. To me this is big. Where is it stated what she saw?
2) She was in the group for 7 years and says she never doped. What would she say to those who say, "Then isn't it possible that Rupp has done the same thing - never dop?" . I mean the thing that is logically hard for some to understand is she was in the group for al ong time and says she never knowingly cheated.
I'm going to link it below. They discuss the "inner ring" of Galen, Darren and Alberto, as well as their disappointment with Nike CEO Mark Parker. They discuss how it was Galen Kara was told to go ask for Cytomel. They also discuss how when Kara got pregnant, Mo joined and things at NOP to a huge turn for the worse. It's really interesting.

I keep seeing “doping” and “performance enhancing” as terms thrown about all over these boards.
If we take the findings of the USADA report as gospel (i.e don’t infer that Salazar and NOP were doing worse than was laid out in the ruling), what exactly was Salazar doing that was performance enhancing?
1) Giving athletes l-carnitine. Did he break an anti-doping rule here? Yes: he administered an illegal volume of injection. Is L-Carnitine performance enhancing? There certainly isn’t good evidence to say it is and WADA doesn’t seem to think so.
I would also point out that Magness is basically irrelevant as an athlete in this scenario, but it seems likely that other NOP athletes received a similar drip given the falsified records.
2) The testosterone thing.
If we take the USADA report at face value, Salazar was administering a banned substance with the goal of seeing whether his athletes could be tampered with. In other words, he was not administering
This seems really fishy to me, but then again, so does “ I ate tainted beef”, “ I kissed a prostitute with cocaine on her lips”, “and I bought penis enlarging pills online”.
What Salazar seems to really be guilty of is falsifying records and using illegal routes of vitamin administration (which were not made illegal to prevent the administration of vitamins). I’m not opposed to a ban for this, but I think the board and athletics community has to collectively ask them selves: “why am I so quick to villify Salazar over other players in our sport?” And “why do I take such joy in this?”
^This.
Even the article admits that, in the end Salazar did not dope any of his athletes. How is that fact not the crux of the issue?
Instead, they focus on red herrings and ancillary things l carnatine....administered to people who werent actually competing.
Cheating rules are designed for athletes. The key point is that neither Galen nor Alberto were doping to enhance Galen's performance. There is no evidence for that. The rest is this one woman's personal vendetta. What a horrible world we live in. And yes, I would say that to the Gouchers' face.
I am glad she finally feels a sense of closure despite the inevitable appeals process and more unexpected twists and turns. I am totally fine with a 4 year ban. Al Sal can still be the greatest coach in the world without pushing into these gray areas. I look forward to his return when he finishes serving the ban.

Seems she got that right with most of you folks.
Indeed, most letsrunners will slime anyone, everyone to avoid the glaring fact that Salazar is likely the worst drug cheat in the modern sports era.

Salazar admitted to using drugs as an athlete. He admitted it. He is by definition a drug cheat.
She sheds some light on the personal character of all of this, namely, implying that Salazar, she says as father figure, suggested she leave Adam and date someone else in particular.
The whole point about the L-carnitine is that Salazar and Magness thought that it had a tremendous performance enhancing effect. Magness couldn't believe how much faster he ran on the tmill, and Salazar sent Lance Armstrong a message to tell him how much faster he would be able to do his triathlon with it.

Well, USADA's Charging Letter accuses that drug cheat to have given testo to his athletes. See the decision pdf.
The evidence provided though was not sufficient for a conviction (see 316).
But I also feel that she had no reputation. She was already going downhill from her highly overrated career. Drama queen seeking attention, pure and simple.

These posts are disheartening. Just like Jenny, so much criticism of Kara just for being an outspoken woman.
NO, it was sour grapes as she was getting dumped. Yes, that's the crux of her complaint and wanting to take credit for it. What's in KG's closet?

Does she say in the article if she’s going to give back the silver medal she won and disavow the many PR’s she clocked while under Salazar. How about Adam, was his career just a sham or if not then how do they determine which athletes at NOP they will assume are guilty and if so why those athletes but not Adam & Kara or Brown’s patient Simpson and Magness.
You sound like Trump fans who shout 'Hillary's emails' whenever trump embarrasses the country with his behavior.
What has as athlete's career got to do with a coach found to be a doper?
An athlete's career is a small thing compared to the systematic doping of a coach.

Salazar is innocent, anyone with a brain knows that.

Has she ever addressed the emails between her and Alberto where she is begging him to continue coaching her? I have no idea if she doped or not, but she seems disingenuous.

She's a person who is looking to be known and can't stand that light is fading. She is very diSINgenuous.

Because she wants to take credit for believing that she was the catalyst for taking him down and she wanted everyone to know that...staying relevant. Now she believes that people will believe her and they will want to talk to her, therefore she will be relevant again...for a little while anyways.
I've read the article, Kara Goucher wants her cake and eat it too. If she had said something from the very, very beginning, then maybe she'd have a leg to stand on. After her parties over and Nike dismisses her, then she's the town crier.
That's not brave, that's a coward who didn't do the right thing till "she" was affected...Nike saying hit the road.
Agreed 100 percent. This was all about KARA and nothing else. She enjoys drawing attention to herself.

I actually can buy that, considering his ridiculous control-freakiness.
I saw this documentary last week on YouTube. Seems that Kara has been speaking out for a long time. As well, Galen Rupert has been (allegedly) on PED”s since high school!?!
