No. The correct answer is Danica Patrick. Far and away the most dominant female in her sport.

I don’t think anyone really compares to Serena either. Annika won like 90 tournaments including the 10 majors. She also won the Evian twice before it became the 5th major on the Tour. Not to mention that she walked away from golf at 38. She’s probably the closest IMO.
What kind of sport is it where the best athlete/player is nearly 40 and overweight? Championship darts?
"Overweight" is subjective.
This holds no weight unless you want to link some social media or something saying you posted on letsrun
Serena is the G.O.A.T women's athlete, regardless of individual or team sport. To maintain the level of play she's been at for this long is nothing short of amazing. The women's game currently has a lot of good young talent and Serena is just mopping the floor with them. She's also taken great care of body for it to be able to hold up this long.
Everyone knows that she's far from her prime, yet she DOMINATED Svitolina yesterday. GOAT.

Ped's. That's how you do it at 38.

Did you vote for Trump by any chance?
Steff Graf was better. She had a golden slam at a time when women's tennis was extremely competitive (Chris Evert, Navratalova, Sabatini, etc.). She also had four "Serena slams". She was ranked no. 1 for 377 consecutive weeks. She would have been able to play longer had she played with today's rackets.

Revisionist history. Evert and Navratalova were well past their prime when Graf started winning grand slams. Sabatini doesn't even deserve to be mentioned.
So true Serena is just so physically gifted and coupled with her training and determination= one of the greatest female athletes ever. I would like to think Jackie JoynerKersee is on par with Serena Williams. I'm no Jackie Joyner fan but the lady own so many of the ALL-TIME top hep scores, long jump performances over 23 feet and even 24 feet, numerous sub 13 110 hurdles, over 6 feet high, sub 2:09 800m, and 22.30 flat 200m speed. She was just as physically gifted as Serena.
Some stats for comparing the two best in tennis:
GS singles titles - Serena 23, Graff 22
GS doubles titles - Serena 14, Graff 1
GS mixed doubles titles - Serena 2, Graff 0
Olympic Gold singles - Serena 1, Graff 1
Olympic Gold doubles - Serena 3, Graff 0
Tour finals wins - Serena 5, Graff 5
Career singles wins - Graff 900, Serena 825
Weeks at No. 1 - Graff 377, Serena 319
Consecutive Weeks at 1 - Serena 186, Graff 186
Graf is not even #2. Margaret Court is #2. She might not even be 3 or 4 Evert and Navratilova have strong cases. The only thing clear is that Serena is the GOAT.

Not even the best all-time in her own sport. Doesn’t yet own the most majors, never won a grand slam, long way behind most tourney wins. Read about heather mackay and wonder about how a woman can not only dominate a sport but can take on men as well. Karsten Braasch beat both sisters back to back 1998.

Right, and so are your feelings. Maybe Serena 'identifies' as a svelte competitor with a BMI of 18. She is not.

There are some morans here who can't even see that she is the best female tennis player of all time, let alone best woman in any individual sport. Frankly, the base here is pretty ignorant when it comes to general sports discussions, and you shouldn't expect to have a productive and informed talk on any non-running sports. This includes one of the founders who incorrectly fancies himself a sports guy.
I tried to warn you guys.

Court's record is dated before the open era, which is somewhat comparable to the dead ball era in baseball. Serena plays fewer tournaments now, after all she is older and is a mother, so she'll probably never reach the all-time number (not that it matters). Enlighten yourself on how hard it is to win the career grand slam, especially with the amount of people playing pro tennis now. And lastly, obviously she lost to the 200th (?) guy in tennis. News flash, the fastest woman in the mile won't beat a lot of NCAA milers.

The point AussieStatski was trying to make was that Heather McKay was such a great squash player (and appears to be still) that she could actually compete against elite level men, something Serena could never do.
Obvious question: Why didn't Heather McKay play tennis instead?
I'm going to go ahead and say that a "sport" in which the top male athlete makes less than $300k is not remotely competitive on the women's side.
