This is the best distance team of all time. They will outscore all other distance squads at nationals.

BYU has a history of bombing at the big dance, last year they had four studs in the 10k and they all walked it in.

5 still have finals to qualify for, and it's not going to be dry and cool like Provo. They have a good chance to put up some good numbers, and if their top guys are placing top 4 consistently they MIGHT make a team podium. But no one is outdoing Arkansas of the 90s or Lananna's Stanford run 98-00.

They may have a "history of bombing" at the big dance but you can't fault them for making it there. (bombing last) How many distance athletes from from the other XC podium teams have made it nationals the last couple of years? How many have made it in the 5k/10k double? BYU has done it 5 times in two years time.

You heard it here first. Conner Mantz will win multiple titles before he is done. And you get the sense from reading his running blog that he’s a nice guy besides being an aerobic beast.

Its' a good school!

Anyone who has run that double hard knows if they didnt double at regions they probably wouldnt have bombed at NCAAs. When raced hard, that double can take weeks to recover from. Ncaa regionals didnt have the 10k for a long time (i believe until 2010) because of this.

Farnsworth was a dropout of the Naval Academy and was never officially enrolled at BYU. Romney and Hatch, both draft dodging cowards, never made contributions to science or society. Chaffetz and Lee are neither famous or contributors to science or society. You're digging pretty hard to find a single BYU graduate out of a million, only one out of a million!!!!!, who has done a damn thing for this country. This school is worse than zero.

Oh, I found one graduate of BYU who has done something. She's not quite famous yet, and horror of horrors, is a woman. Tara Westover wrote the bestselling book "Educated", about her horrific mormon upbringing and escape from LDS. One enlightening incident she writes about her time at BYU involves a student she'd never met before asking her out for milk and cookies. She politely declines, and the little weasel faced punk goes to her mormon bishop and files a complaint that she has no interest in getting married and should be expelled.

Wikipedia, on his biographical page, is really unclear on whether Farnsworth was ever enrolled at BYU. It states that he wasn't allowed to attend classes, and doesn't mention him getting any sort of degree. It also states that he graduated high school in June of 1924, went to the Naval Academy, dropped out of the USNA and had moved to California by May of 1926. So he could only have been at BYU for much less than two years, and that probably isn't even enough to fulfill the religion class requirements for a degree.

How BYU found success in the 10k

- BYU puts 10-12 scholarships in to distance.

- BYU is allowed to keep 30+ distance guys on the active roster. (Don’t even mention the run club)

- Current tuition for LDS undergraduate students is $2,730

You could have looked this up.

BYU is a good school. Even with their religious slant an education there is on par with other top universities. Its not like the mormon liberty, its a very good school.

Having run at BYU I can say that Coach Eyestone has less than 5 full scholarships dedicated to distance/mid-distance. They have a very well balanced track and field team which is how they were able to win the MPSF Indoor Conference meet this year against mostly PAC-12 schools and how on a regional level they are rated ahead of Texas Tech. Their men's team qualified 34 athletes to the West Prelims. While they do have an administration that allows for a large roster and the tuition is inexpensive, they distribute their scholarships among all the event groups. Like at every school, some of the distance runners qualify for academic scholarships but most are content to have a smaller athletic scholarship than they would at another university for the opportunity to be in a very good program.
