Kent AC wich is in the Kent region in England races in the Surrey regional cross country league

Kent may have horses running through council estates but they also have the galloping runner, the one and only people’s champ, John Gilbert.

Also, on the other hand, Surrey has the Stain-upon-the-Thames too. But other than that...

I don't believe you are a proud Surrey man! Proud Surrey men do not confuse Ascot (not in Surrey) and Epsom (in Surrey) race courses. Especially those who know their cross-country Surrey races well, and know that the Epsom Downs League was a major fixture over the years.

Quite obviously another Kent boy trying to be Surrey. They come over here, take over our league, drink all of our beer and block our view of the TV screen when we’re trying to watch the rugby. The uncultured philistines.

Peter Clarke, Dave Clarke's brother, and he was good when younger, as I saw him run 3.47/1500 in an open meet at Crystal Palace, circa 1979/1980. Peter used to work with Nat.West bank.

Another bro, Chris Clarke, was a French teacher. The Clarke abode -Magdallen road, Earlsfield, about 2 miles from Wimbledon Common. Dave Clarke's training as a Junior, was 3 miles a.m., and 7 miles p.m. You do that for years, and you will reach good level.

The father of all this prestigious clan was Dr Clarke, a G.P. - medical doctor. Dave Clarke, aged 60 can still run a 3hr marathon with minimal training. Does not hurt that he is a former National c.c. winner, with bests like 13.22, 27.56, 2.13, and 7th place in world cross, with famous names like Cova and the Castro twins behind.

There aren't too many clubs named after whole counties. Normally it might be "north [county] AC" etc.

Locally to me, lots of XYZ Cheshire teams compete in the Manchester League, or in the North Staffordshire League.

Actual Surrey alumni have more titled and glorious palmares than these examples, that were well-known on the world circuit.

I guess ‘resting’ the big guns didn’t pay off last Saturday with the Tooting Common FC Harriers taking the win at the SAL meeting? I didn’t realise Paul P was Kent, I thought he was injured?

Hades Wimbledon are so bitter that apparently Fullers London Pride are going to be their new sponsor for next season. The sponsorship should be enough to pay for new training kit so they don’t have to warm up in their red and yellow pyjamas.

And Surrey County Council's offices aren't in Surrey, they are in the Royal Borough of Kingston-upon-Thames
