Let's just all hope that Ritz is a surprise winner and can once and for all be lauded/scrutinized as much as Rupp.
Would be interesting to see how Coaches A,B,C and Meb, Shalane etc would react then...

Coach B:
"“Honestly, I couldn’t give a s***,” said Coach B. “The approach and all of the nonsense that the Nike Oregon Project has been up to, it just leaves such a bad taste in my mouth that I couldn’t care less.”"
and Coach B:
“I’m rooting for anybody but [him], to be honest. "
It kind of sound like he does give a s***.

I'd have a lot more respect if he/she had the balls to not be anonymous.

NOT bold. Anonymous coward, this coach.

And the best you guys can do is a couple extra drops of L-Carnitine? Meanwhile he competes against numerous east Africans doped to the gills on EPO?
What's your evidence for them being on EPO?
Rupp on the other hand risked a four year ban for the questionable boost from too much L-carnitine (well, 1 - 2 liters instead of 0.05 L, not just a couple of extra drops). How much would he risk for the higher benefits of EPO and testo?
And voila, he was on the likely doping list of the IAAF with three out of three stars because of his off score, and USADA reported him with suspiciously elevated testo.

I have no problem with the coaches not using their names. Perhaps if Nike wasn't in charge of the distance running scene in the US by owning USATF these coaches would be free to go on the record with their real name. With the way things are now, I don't blame them one bit for remaining anonymous and protecting their careers.
It is refreshing to hear what people really think instead of the PR sound bites usually put out.
Overall, I enjoyed all the comments in the feature, anonymous and attributed alike. Good job, LRC.
Normally I’d think someone like Coach B would be a coward, but after Mackey being threatened ... and Torrence’s death possibly being linked to Aden .... who wouldn’t want to remain anonymous? Athletics is great and all, but not worth death.
I dislike Rupp bc his personality is zzz, not because he is NOP. I suspect most athletes get close to the line and sometimes cross it.

Anybody listen to Meb's interview with Mario Fraioli on the Morning Shakeout podcast? Towards the end he asks him what Americans he's excited for, especially at Boston. Meb said the men's side has some catching up to do and they're still waiting for that next great talent. No mention of Rupp at ALL. On the women's side he's super excited about Amy, Shalane, and Molly... "And Hasay is there too." As an after thought.
Loved it.
Meb is arguably America's greatest marathoner, although in his mind he is number-one; I would say he is right there with Bill Rogers and Frank Shorter. If Rupp wins Boston, I would say he is also in that group with Meb, Rogers, and Shorter. However, if Rupp wins Boston and goes on to win another Olympic marathon medal of any color and/or another WMM, I would say Rupp is the greatest American marathoner. This fact is not lost on Meb and the omission of Rupp in his response is pure playahating. As of 2013, Rupp is no longer using a TUE and has been the most tested distance runner since that time and his coach and the NOP program has been under the microscope since that time. Rupp has had some really good races the last couple of years, but nothing so off-the-charts one should assume talent, coaching, and determination can't achieve. These are the facts, yet some people want to ignore the fact and prefer to believe that there is some super secretive Area-21 type stuff responsible for Rupp's success.
I would have had more respect for Meb if just came right out and expressed his disdain for Rupp. Personally, unless I knew for a fact -or at there is hard evidence to suspect Rupp or any American athlete was cheating when they toed the line in Boston, there is no way I would not be rooting for them.
Bill Rodgers, not Rogers. Thank you Coach Wanna be.

bold, yeah right. Coward is what he is. If you're going to say stuff like that, be a man and admit who you are, not some anonymous a hole.
Go Galen! I'll be rooting for you and I don't give a sh$t who Coach B roots for.
This whole "be a man" thing is stupid. Chances are if he revealed his identity people would rip and discredit what he said. Instead, we see what he said for what it is without any pre-dispositions. It's better this way.

I live in Michigan. I watched him run in high school and of recent. Don't count him out. Unless there's a strong headwind, which isn't predicted as of today, Dathan is on for a good one. No one truly knows what will happen, but he's got the training in and if things fall in place on race day, he's very capable of popping a good one.
If you want to be the best you have to give everything, a total commitment. Just like Galen. And guess what he is the only U.S. born American that is competitive at a world class level in distance running. And after him there is no world class U.S. born American in 10k to marathon now and in the near future. Something has been lost in the American culture when giving everything to an endeavor is a sin.

So it's a sin not to cheat?

Wow, that was deep man (add a heavy does of sarcasm). LOL!!!!!
Coach B = Rojo
What would coach B think if for example Kirui won? Would he give a sh*t then? What does he think about the testing in E. Africa? Seems to me Rupp may generally be the least questionable person on the elite starting line.
Meb? Wow. That washed up POS. How could someone be so deranged? I never liked him and now just absolutely hate him. Hope Rupp crushes Boston and NY and this guy could go rot in his miserable mediocrity.

Based on his comments (or lack thereof). From another post on the 2nd page:

Coach B is a chickensheet. He’s big talker but doesn’t have the balls to say who they are. Pure low class.
Say nothing if you can’t back up your whining or use your real name.
Gault is a friggin joke for allowing and encouraging this nonsense.

So because he doesn't feel the need to support Rupp, in your mind he's a deranged, washed up POS that was mediocre? That's ludicrous.
Yeah like Meb is clean. Setting PRs in your 40s is totally normal.
