Yes, there is racism here but why do people harp on it? If this country was so awful, then why in the hell did Barack Obama's father decide to come here in 1954 when we were way more racist?

You do realize in Kenya in the last 10 years they have tribal warfare with up to 1,500 butchered and 180k to 600k displaced. I would say hating on someone for their tribe is not different than race. It's the same damn thing. So what you are complaining about exists basically all over the world - even basically all black countries.

I won't really weigh in with a response because I'll probably get banned if I do (Letsrun struggles to tolerate dissenting views) but herein, ladies and gentlemen, is the reason this site attracts so many maladjusted bigots. And to think the founders/owners like to brag about the supposed level of education of posters ... seriously, how are people get this misinformed?

I think you are confused. You are saying that if Coe, Ovett, and Cram represented the US "Americans" would be pissed. You are saying that as if the 3 would not be american as well. This is not a gray area. You are either a citizen or not. If you are bothered by the WCAP guys representing us it HAS to be because they are from Africa or you have something against them specifically. I completely support them representing us. We should send the fastest citizens-athletes that we can. If that somehow makes me racist so be it. I do want to point out that my favorite runners are Robby Andrews and Eric Jenkins for the record. I just do not see how supporting african born runners in the US makes me racist. I am just pointing out what I see on these message boards all the time.

Bodes well for Olympic distance success.

If the African born Americans can win all the spots and keep all our other best runners off the team we are in great shape.
