Is Galen Rupp a 2:05 Guy? Wejo, Rojo and You Debate

Moving from a successful track career to the roads/marathon at age 31 is not past your prime numb nuts. Your crappy post does not provide any real basis for what you are claiming - it is starting to sound like you don;t even know the sport? You are probably not even a runner yourself and if you are you are not likely very good.

Rupp is still learning the marathon and despite the fact he is still new to it he has performed exceptionally well in all 3 races - and keeping in mind that his training for those 3 races were not 100% marathon focused.

Chicago may not be the course or race for a sub-2:07, especially given there are no pacers. This being said, I predict Rupp wins and beats all of the sub-2:06 talent en route to something in the range of 2:08 high to 2:09 low - he is fit and better prepared plus for this one vs. all others and he is a great racer. His next marathon after this one is hopefully something targeted for a fast course, where he clearly would have the potential to go sub-2;06..., would be nice to see him get into a race on a super fast/flat course in the future. In the meantime i would ask that you STOP posting the garbage you have been polluting this thread with.

How can you be so sure that PEDs are a piece of the bigger picture? In the biggest picture, NOP athletes are still slow. First and foremost, we should only concern ourselves only with PEDs banned by WADA, as there are many PEDs not banned by WADA.The BBC, Propublica "scoop" was in June 2015. USADA has been investigating NOP allegations since at least 2013, and target testing NOP athletes ever since. I agree with your last paragraph but disagree with your first, if I ran 3:49.99 for the mile I would be telling everyone, "I ran 3:49 for the mile." Heck, I still tell people that I ran 11.2 for 100m on grass, though it was hand timed with possibly a tail wind (the good old days).

Yeah Monza. I typed that on a Macbook -- but cannot blame Safari or MacOS.So 0.99s for a mile scales to ~26 seconds for the marathon. As I said before, I've never been a fan of truncating more than 30 seconds.

The span of time he's going to spend "learning" the marathon is going to surpass the career length of some of the marathon's best. And like Bad said, he's not built for much faster than an 06 anyway. And that 26 10K is getting further away in that rear view mirror, and he's a 2:09.58 guy.

Disallow Hall's Boston time, and Rupp is over 2:10. That's over 7 minutes behind Dennis.

If Rupp's in it, a minute or so back of Biwott or whoever, there's a glimmer of hope. If he wins, and it's an 09 or something, well, there's always the Turkey Trot circuit.
