How about the "Collins Classic"?
After Michael Collins, who piloted the Apollo 11 Command Module in orbit while Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed on the moon.
Top quality name righty here
Well we know jeff likes to support homosexuality so why not call it The Rear Ender Invitational?
Literally just take the school who is hosting the event and put invitation at the end of it
It's honestly not that hard
Lets say the school is Rockdale. Make it the Rockdale Invite or the Rockdale Classic or the Rockdale Open or the Rockdale Meet
Technically it's a meet full of JV runners who in this race will actually be in a varsity position. If you give a name like "Invite" or "Classic" they feel like it's a regular meet and not a leftover JV meet.
First medal I ever got in high school was at the Queens, NY PSAL Cross-Country Championships, held at Van Cortlandt Park in the fall of 1969. I came in 6th in the race. They gave out the first 5 medals, then announced that for places 6-10, medals were not available right away but would be mailed to the coaches. They were mailed and I got my medal from coach Larry Ellis in his last HS cross country season at Jamaica HS before taking the job at Princeton.
The name of the race? Not varsity, not JV, but "Scrub Run"! I couldn't have been prouder!
Karhu Shoe Race
Great story. I love it!
In Michigan a lot of races use the acronym PROM (post regional open meet) and these races are run immediately after our regional races.
Call it a state championship, give everyone a trophy and make sure everyone gets on the podium.

We use the term "Reserve". Some schools can't run seniors in junior varsity races.
There is a concept like this in swimming (at least in the Upper Midwest) for kids who don't make the State Meet. They call it the "Silver Meet" or "Silver State Meet" depending on the state/area.

This is the best answer. A little surprising it took 5 pages for someone to post it. If the school doesn't work, use the county name or a nearby street. Names like Future Stars are great for 4 years olds. Most teenagers will see right through that and find it embarrassing. And the clueless ones who don't get it shouldn't be encouraged to keep thinking they are a Future Star.
