This is a fact.When i called to ask about the race he said they are no mile marks but past the railroad tracks is close to a mile.After telling him i had a few friends going he said he would put some marks out there.He seemed proud when over the phone he said i gpsed the course.A red flag there.Also this race has been around awhile. From the way it looks he only does this race and its a big deal to him.My point is long or short there was no one out there pointing me what way to go and the way the cone was put it could fool anyone.Also the guy who was in 3nd also way way behind me almost made the same turn .He was turned back before by the police.That is what he said.After that the police road way down the road to turn me back.They must not have been paying attention. I did take the time to stop and wave what way and no one said this way.It is because they were not possible paying attention.His suggestion was to stop and knock on the window.That is a joke.

That's the first thing we learned when I went out for xc my freshman year of high school. We always walked the course right when we got to the meet. That is part of the fun of racing is deciding how you want to run the course. If it is windy, you need to know at what point the wind will be against you so you can tuck in behind other runners. If it is hilly, you want to know where the hills are on the course and plan your race strategy with that information. Knowing exactly how far you have to go and when you can kick may mean the difference in a few places or a few seconds off your time.
If you can't even do the basics of getting ready for a race, then you don't deserve anything and have lost your right to complain about the race.

I've decided I'm going to release the name of the RD and the race but I'm going to give him a curtesy telephone call first to ask if it's OK to do that. Who thinks that's the correct thing to do?
Why must you use someone else's name.The whole point of this was to call out people who put on races like this.I do not want to embarrasse the race but rather call out people who don't take their time putting together an event and how the letsrun.com community felt.The race is good for the small community and the police did their job but the race director did not handle it right or take the time to secure the course
