Lost the gold with that 5k prelim joke of a run.

This might be an odd observation, I admit it, but has anyone else thought the sweat on the athletes looks different? Unable to describe exactly why I think it looks peculiar, maybe an oily sheen? But I have noticed this throughout the games. Just wondering.
Very bright stadium lighting for TV purposes.

An easy 15:14 had nothing to do with it.
Any details on the DQs in the 4x400?
4x4 dqs got Brazil into the finals, hmmmmmmm.
Time for some dropped exchanges by the Americans.
I stopped watching when wejo said the gold was Ayana's, I figured I was watching a tape delay. Turns out I was wrong.
Ayana looks human. Wow. Thought she was going to run away with this one.
Weird, though, she closed the 10,000 faster than she ran tonight. Perhaps a bad omen for Rupp in marathon?
Imagine if they cut away from an NBA basketball game to show a shot put event.

Ayana breaks it open with a 65. The gold is hers;
4:52.7 at 1600
Ayana takes off 100 meters later, and at with8 to go, she’s already got 10 meters. The Three kenyans and can in chase pack, then gap to teferi, then gap to rest of the field.
Lead has more than doubled 400m later. This one is all over.
66.64 (7:39 with 6 to go). Chase pack is four seconds back, led by obiri
Nice post

No, Rupp had no 5k prelim and has 2 extra days

Days after a WR 10k effort and days before an Olympic final, especially with how hard the last 5 of the 10 was run.

With a 4:52 opening 1600. So she basically still ran 14:14 pace for the second 3400m, after a couple suicidal laps, and the top 2 under WR pace for that split. The top 3 could all be potentially in WR shape, they just ran weird splits all around.
Also, marathon pace will feel so easy after the 10K. He'll jog it in for the silver in 2:07:33, but Eliud Kipchoge will win in 2:06:03.
That's what, an 8:26 3k leader to leader? So maybe 8:24 final 3k for VC? Not bad
Maybe Ayana stopped taking drugs due to increased scrutiny after the 10k. How long do the effects of EPO last?

You think there will be a 90 second gap between first and second?
ROFL please, it stimulates erythropoiesis. It takes more than a couple days for red blood cell count to drop due to not taking EPO.
Had the sound down on my TV. What is the deal with the tape on the Ukranian women?
