And therein lies the problem. A professional doesn't "amplify a game of telephone" at her sponsor's most important meet. Tell it to the people in charge, tell it to USADA, and let them deal with it. She must realize her running career is ending soon - maybe her tweet is part of an attempt to get a job with one of the anti-doping agencies.

Reid seems to have stated all that she knows about an important subject. It could amount to nothing. If so, move on.
this differs from statements where the person says he or she knows something but then does not share any details to evaluate. For an example, look at Kara Goucher's statement after the trials. She stated that she knew more about cheating by AlSal (and implicitly Rupp) but, for some unsubstantiated reason, she did not provide details. It's hard for her to say she can't share public details after having previously done so in an interview on the same subject with BBC. Many of us are interested to know more details but that exchange did not advance the public conversation at all.

She said that "apparently" a coach was protesting an athlete being tested.
She didn't say WTF "apparently" mean here, a word that young people today have a lot of trouble using correctly. "Apparently" as in she watched it happen? Or "apparently" as in she heard that someone heard that someone heard it happened? This matters. Probably the latter.
She also didn't explain what "protesting" meant in her accusation. Filing a formal protest, which would be the right use of the word at a track meet? Probably not. "Protesting" in saying 'what the heck, buddy, he was tested just on Tuesday'? Much more likely. But of course if that was Sheila's coach talking (small white woman) it would be a fair comment, but if it was Asbel's coach (African man!) it would be considered very, very bad.
So no, she didn't provide information appropriate to her accusation. She failed to even make a clear grammatical statement.

She say a person (whose name she did not know), protesting a drug test. She can describe the person, she just does not know the person's name. She tells USADA about the incident as it seems odd that a coach or agent would have a problem with normal doping protocol.
USADA can do what they want with the information - but this is how Lance was caught, enough people talked and a picture of his doping resulted.

Anybody think that maybe this coach was trying to GET his/her athlete tested? Maybe a lower place athlete who was not originally pulled for testing but maybe had set a national record that needs to be drug tested to be approved. The coach was trying to convince the drug testers that this athlete NEEDED to get tested

Did Ms. Reid ever mention what argument she "heard"? What does "protest" mean. Was the coach arguing against taking the test at all, proctored properly. Was the athlete being rushed? Did he/she need liquids to provide sample?

Oh, the irony! From what I understand, Sheila Reid apparently observed a coach arguing against drug testing one of his athletes. Reid, didn't know the details, including who the athlete was or what race he was in. She tweeted this incomplete information on a social media platform, and that social media platform limits the length of a message. Sheila Reid has a vested interest in clean sport (assuming she's clean). Also, Reid has a vested interest in generating publicity for herself (and is probably required to be active on social media).
A Letsrun poster reads about it on the message board, then accuses those who support Reid's tweet as being "morons" on the grounds that she was "amplifying a game of telephone."

1. There is a difference between observing a situation without being privy to all of the details and repeating hearsay.
