Could be wrong, but don't see him being is the same 5000m shape as bekele in his prime, of komen in 3000m top shape.

the only reason anyone woud believe track is slower than road is because the top guys don't run 20k or 1/2M on the track to compare the same shape

20k track wr is by geb & although he had a 58'55 the previous year, the year of his ostrava wr he was well over 60' so not much to go on there

even if we use the extremes of your list : 3'32 ( which i saw here mentioned in the past by his coach as his likely 1500 ability last year & was why absurdly Kamwo believed gave him a chance in a sprint v mo ) & 58'10 on a track

which indicates your 1/2M figure for him is too slow as most woud expect a 12'41 to be better figure than 26'26 & Kamwo gets better with distance, certainly upto 1/2M

I read the article about the race. Did the "no names'" effort actually test Mo at any point? Sounds like one of them lead a lot of the second half and wouldn't let Mo slow it down? The article was heavily editorialized.

Mo complaining he wanted it faster and didn't know the other elites. If we wanted faster he could have gone on his own to get the faster time he wanted. It turned into a tactical race, no fault but his own.

RE: Rio Q times

Ten of the top ten Rio Q times have been run at Pre with 6 coming from last nights race. All 7 of the sub 27 times were there too

As the race turned out, Mo was smart to be cautious and not hammer when the pace dropped. Sitonik passed Mo on the last lap and held the lead into the stretch. If Mo had gone hard and been his pacer he probably would have lost the race.
