I saw Meselech Melkamu run the fastest non-Chinese 10.000m in Utrecht. She ran a pretty even pace throughout the 25 laps and broke 30 min. It was an effort that I could compare to Haile's en Bekele's race I saw.

That WR is also way faster than the times run during the 2003 WC in Paris, where Lornah Kiplagat (20km and half marathon WR holder later on) put on a really fast pace to drop of the Ethiopians. They just broke 30.

Radcliffe in Munich in pooring rain, scorched the track and just ran about 30min.

Someone running 20 sec faster is so hard to imagine.

She very much looks like a well trained female distance runner. You forget that doping only works in conjunction with training. You can't take someone off the street, dope them and they magically become world class. Doping enables harder training and better recovery.

What do we know? We know that basically every single sport world wide has a doping program.

We know that testing catches about one percent.

We know that testing used to be even less successful.

We know that China is a country with authoritarian rule and a non transparent culture that is designed to make the State appear all powerful and successful.

We know that similar cultures have had extensive state supported doping programs. Every time some one does something unprecedented we hear that they train harder than anyone or they found a miracle like turtle soup. Those people are very often busted and then supposed reasons for their success are debunked. Remember there is basically nothing new that hasn't been tried by now.

We know that some tiny group with the same coach suddenly, out of no where, started breaking records to an unprecedented degree in obscure meets.

So how is there even a question as to whether these runners were doping? One would be an idiot to think otherwise.

Wang denied doping in the 2000's, so why would she have written a letter admitting doping in the 1990's? Doesn't make sense to me.

Both their mileage and intensity are and were completely unprecedented. Their training and devotion was simply on another plane from any other female runner.

Just becuse they told everyone how hard they trained does not prove they trained harder than any other athlete. Its now like you can spend 10 hours a day training there is a limit to how much you can do

Without doping they would have been average runners and nobody would have heard of them. However hard they trained

What worries me is that their 1500m record which was juiced to the max has now been beaten.

Keep in mind that there were basically hundreds of athletes in Mo's army. He trained everyone that hard. Only few "survived". It's what Jack Daniels refers to as throwing eggs to the wall and see what sticks.

Radcliffe also has at least 3 suspect blood test results to her name and has refused to release any more of her blood data to the press/public.

Wang never tested positive and never had any suspicious blood data uncovered by the press. However, she has had the courage to confess which is actually pretty good of her given that she had no reason to do so at this stage of her life.

Maybe Ingrid Christiansen still has the record ....

She did not confess; she has not released a statement about the "letter". The IAAF is working to determine if the letter is real or has been faked. No news source has provided a copy of the letter that can be reviewed, not even the news source that broke the story.
