Oh my. Rupp looks like the frail version of King Leonidas as a kid, you know when they send him out to the wilderness to toughen up... GR is probably the least marketable athlete on all of Nike's roster. You just can't make a face like that a bit likeable. Not really sure why people think Galen is weird. After seeing this, I really feel like he'd be a lot of fun to have at a party or party with. Ditto for Ashton.

Definitely a thing for Oregon fans. I recognized four people before they showed the names. And then I still didn't know who most of them are. It's like watching a bunch of people you don't know on social media.
Based on contracts, riders and appearance fees, Galen is certainly a millionaire. However, all of that goes away when he retires, or God forbid, gets popped with a doping ban. He's 30 right now give or take a year. Let's say he competes at this level through Rio next year. What are the chances he makes another Oly team at or past 35 years old? For this example, let's say he does make the team in 2020. So then what does he do to replace the income he is making now for the rest of the 35-40 years he is alive?? Speaking fees? Write a book? He's lived the most boring, sheltered life imaginable, so who the hell is going to read his memoir? Unless he comes out and says he hated Alberto the whole time, there is no bomb that he could drop on us to get anyone to buy that book.
Get a job at nike? They aren't paying middle-management guys the same as top-level athletes, so there is a 50% pay cut at least.
My main point is this: the money he is making today isn't NFL money. It will quickly burn up with daily modest living, let alone supporting himself and a growing family for 35+ years. He will certainly have to get a job or something after he retires. He's not Jordan for god's sake.
No self-respecting fraternity would recruit Rupp to be a member.

I have no idea how much he has or has made but I'd have to think it is more than most people at his age. Prudently invested he could be just fine long term.
Furthermore, in today's world of hyper-marketing and consumerism, there is no way someone like Galen with his name-recognition can't carve out a lucrative post-running career in a niche-market (race director, university coach/director, speaker, product specialist, sport ambassador). Potentially some kind of fun, piecemeal career that emphasizes his records/finishes while he develops/displays his personality outside of the harsh light of training, competing and trolls.
Given his running history and close association with Nike/UO, I would be surprised if he can't find a light/minimal-effort, six-figure, "visibility" position at either institution. Heck Coe did gyms, Symmonds is doing tanning salons, I'd bet Rupp has some capital to start something up.
