Hey man no worries.I'm just trying to give more credit to guys like Brian and Jeff because I think they actually have worked harder than guys like me in running (they are also older than me). Knowing a bit about how Jeff trains now I'd say he is very smart with his training and his progression comes from his dedication and long-term plan. Part of training at a high level is taking risks with training (and risking injury in return ). Those guys and guys like Nick Arciniaga have flat out have run more miles than guys like me. I'm a big wuss with mileage sometimes. They are way more talented than a runner like me for sure, but they worked really really hard and gave up a lot to run 2:10-2:11. I don't like it when people use the "talent" excuse all the time. Those guys have laid it on the line and I respect that - that's all I'm saying.

Wasn't ripping on you at all Sage. I actually subscribe to your blog and watch all of your videos.
But...I never would have guessed that you would say that Brian outworked everyone at Hanson's, not in a million years. I assumed that you were trying as hard as you could like everybody else.
You are talented for sure and I wasn't trying to put you in your place, just saying that if you worked your butt off (I assumed you did) and ran 2:16:52 after so many years, then a sub 2:11 is not in your genetic make up. I was not a personal jab and if you took it that way, I sincerely apologize.

I didn't work as hard as I could in the marathon and am not at my peak yet I don't think (also, Hansons was a far from ideal environment for me, but I was lucky to get any support though coming out of college so..).
Ha ha, I know I could never crack 2:14 probably and will never make the Olympic Team in the marathon (I'm still just trying to make the Trials again!). Thanks for putting me in my place.
But I didn't miss the poster's "point." Totally.
