I didn't read the replies, but YES you should have been kicked off. I don't know the state high school athletic rules for where you live, but in the state I ran CC in there was a strict no alcohol use for high school students. Being a host with that much alcohol would probably result in severe punishment.
My coach would have turned one of the runners of his team into the athletic director & probably the cops if he found out we did this.

Welcome to real life. Pretty people get away with more stuff. Well stacked women show cleavage when they get pulled over, and get no ticket, but you do, every time.
That is reality. Life is NOT fair.
If the star runner was a leader, he would have stood up for you. He would have told the coach that it was the whole team, and that you are all guilty. The star runner threw you under the bus by not saying anything.
It is one thing if someone over 18 gets booze for minor. then a coach would have grounds to take it out on that adult. But you were all under age, and the coach should not have played favorites.
From this entire scenario, I can make the following assumptions. You were not one of the better runners. The star runner was selfish. The coach played favorites. The fact that you got away with a party with this much alcohol and not tragedies, may give you some consideration and thankfulness. And, maybe you should look at what happened as a way of saying that you really did not get away with it, as you have said.

Totally agree. You were in high school, not college. You were a freakin kid. You have no business throwing some alcoholic rager. When you certainly could have been expelled or gone to jail I would say getting kicked off your track team was having it easy. That's what happens when you are a stupid high school kid who thinks you can be cool by drinking and providing alcohol to other kids.

All in all, it was considered to be a cool party, and I got some props for it at school. Looking back, I thank my lucky stars that I came out unscathed. I was even able to cover, and my parents never found out. Some of the coolest/most popular seniors and underclassmen made cameos at my party.
However, somehow, the word got back to the distance track coach that I had had a party (it started as a track party), and I was kicked off the team that Monday immediately at practice, and was simply told, "I run a clean team," and that was that. I don't think this was fair seeing as how there really were no tragic repercussions of the party.
So I have been spending a lot of time thinking about this lately. I would have liked to have run my senior track season, but spent second semester senior year moping around and being depressed because I was kicked off the team, drinking too much, etc, and this carried over to college, which was all pretty much a blur (Somehow I graduated). I think about this now because I can't help but feel like maybe if I would have been able to run that season, I would have been happy, and would have gone away to college happy and excelled through college and grad school, and had a job by now at age 25, instead of my current situation.
I don't know, just food for thought.
Hingle this is easy of course you deserved to be kicked off the team. Nothing was stopping you from running on your own joining a running club or whatever.

I was kicked off of the indoor track team senior year of highschool. My friends and I (the distance guys and gals) had a new years party out in a barn at my friends place(we lived in a pretty rural area). I got drunk enough to black out because I used to not know when to stop drinking. We got caught and I and another kid on the team ended up throwing up in the house. The parents whos house it was called all the parents of the kids who were there and one of them called the schools AD and told on us. Orginally I and the other kid who threw up were only suspended from the team for 2 weeks but the AD then kicked us off for the season. We definitley weren't the only drunk ones and it's not like we were slow, we were the 3 and 4 guys for xc and both All-state. Luckliy they only kicked us off for the indoor season. I though it was total bull though because It was over break an we werent even really in season.
