Then look at meat eating and you are talking $10 a day, minimum. Rice is less than $1/lb. Get your head out ur ass dude

There is a LOT of evidence out there in favor of a whole foods plant-based diet with no animal products.
To some people "vegan" means someone who avoids eating animal products, to others it means someone making a political statement about cruelty to animals who also does not use leather etc. You can be a vegan and eat primarily french fries, soda, and Cap'n Crunch, especially if your primary aim is to be cruelty free.
"Whole Foods, plant-based" is better because it defines what you DO eat. You absolutely can be strong healthy and fast eating that way. As your caloric needs rise, you eat more. You won't be protein deficient eating this way unless you are also calorie deficient.
Best thing is to watch Forks Over Knives, then read The China Study, if you really want to immerse in this topic.
The china study is DEEPLY flawed. Google it.

Veganism, followed devoutly, will generally help you carry a leaner body type and control your weight. But they'll also generally have less muscle on their frame than someone with a healthy moderate fat diet that eats meat. It's ironic that vegans and Atkins followers squabble about what is more satiating - fat or carbs - when protein is vastly more satiating than both.
The better question is how many runners who eat vegan are also battling some type of eating disorder and how many of the vegan runners are women? I'd venture to say both statistics highly favor women. By the way, you can get protein from no animal sources (like pea protein powder, etc) so not exactly sure where this "mistake" thing is coming from.
