About 50 feet of elevation change over 10k...it's as flat as flat gets.

Heard Windle run at a Mile last night in Delaware. Looks like hes not running XC this year. Not that he is a huge part to Ashland XC, but sounds like Ashland needs a new 5/6/7 man. Makes ashland being runners up A LOT less likely.
In other news. (Source: Twitter)
Maloneys have set up altitude tents in their dorm rooms. Who would have thought plastic and duct tape could be so effective. Should see some serious strength out of these guys this year. Living at 7-10,000 feet is gonna be super effective. Dont forget they have the World Famous Legend, Jack Hazen, tugging on the reigns that is Malone. Should be tough this year.
1. GV
2. Malone
3. Ferris
4. Ashland
5. Hillsdale
Watch what you say about Malone. They should be pretty legit this year. With Polk out, does Ritzenhein take a bigger role in GVs training? And is Ferris able to continue success without Steven? This should shake things up a bit. I doubt Ferris finishes third this year. Maybe see a lower tier team break the top 5 this year.
1. GVSU will be fine without Polk, old JB will have to actually do some real coaching this year but the program is too good to slip up.
2. Malone should have learned their lesson from last year and show some respect to rest of the GLIAC but they should be 2nd if the don't screw up again.
3. Ashland-Finally have the flat course and the runners able to compete to get it done in xc again.
Hillsdale-Joe Lynn enough said
4. Ferris-Lots still there and coach wasn't really doing much they will be good but not great unless they find a 4-5
So JB wasn't doing "real coaching" last year? Where do you guys get this nonsense? Who do you think developed the program, and trained Polk? Very hard working coach, ALWAYS heavily involved in every aspect of the program.
Not is XC, in track yes he has his area (middle distances maybe) but in XC it was all Mr. Polk, JB oversaw everything and did a great job with leadership, running the overall program and team morale but the actual training was and has been mostly done but Polk and Joe Lynn before him. JB has done it but has had way to many other responsibilities to worry about than day to day XC training.

Are you a current/former member of the gv program? I was.
I hate that this thread always goes back to Ashland yet at the same time how could you say Windle would be in position to be a 5/6/7 guy? Let alone top 10?With Sussman, Baum, Knack, Potes, Hall and Jacob Cook being a huge addition to XC they will compete up to the hype.
Okay now enough about Azzland now.
Is it official Window will not run xc? Can anyone confirm Hillsdale sleeps in altitude tents? That's a huge waste of time for a lower tier division two program. They also cleaned house with their coaching staff.
Predictions are tough in late August, but I'll try.
Men
1. GV
2. Ashland
3. Malone (very close to AU)
4. Michigan Tech
5. Hillsdale
6. Wayne State
7. Ferris
8. SV
Big gap after 8th. Mich Tech returns 6 of the top-7 I believe? If Lane can transfer his 1500m success to a flat grass 8K, they could really make some noise.
Women
1. GV
2. Malone
3. NMU
4. SV
5. Hillsdale
6. Wayne State
7. Ashland
8. Ferris
Should be a tight race for the 2-5 spots. those teams all return a lot of experience and are well-coached. Wayne could be a sleeper.
On the men's side GVSU is the only correct prediction. Why did you put Malone at 3, Hillsdale at 5, ferris at 7th?
Northwood at 7. Tiffin at 8.

Because Ashland, Michigan Tech and Wayne are good? And they appear to have lost less to graduation then Malone, Hillsdale and Ferris respectively? Coaching changes also typically have a negative effect initially (changes to training, coaching style, etc.) even when the new coach is really good. AU, MTU and WSU have had a lot of coaching stability for the last few years and that continuity can't hurt.
Agree mostly except I'm not so sure Ferris will fall so far.
And who exactly did Hillsdale lose to graduation? Those guys were all Juniors and Freshmen.
I see Hillsdale as the clear #4. They have a potential top 5 finisher in Mirth and return everybody from a team that finished 4th last year. I don't think the coaching changes will cause a drop in performance.
1- GVSU
2- Ashland
3- Malone
4- Hillsdale
5- Ferris
6- Michigan Tech
7- Wayne St
8- SVSU
Ferris still has Gerber and Harper. Copi and some of their younger guys will need to run well but it's going to be close with them MTU and Wayne. Top 3 should get through to nationals as well.
Is Joe Lynn the new coach at Hillsdale? The conference race will be ran at Tiffins course, correct? How is that course? Speed benefits Ashland most. Hills usually benefit Ferris. Nothing benefits Malone.
Joe Lynn is the assistant coach.
Baum runs 9:00.1 2 mile today.. too fit too soon?
