Tony,
Thank you for making my argument. Unfortunately, there is not a solution to every problem.

She is ahead of Robinson and because of that does not have to look back and see what Robinson is doing. If anyone should have been DQ’d, it should have been Robinson. She should have moved out to pass. Please don’t show me a photo on mile split of her in lane 2… If you or using that as your smoking gun then you are just as bad as the Warren Commission! Collins and Robinson had little to no space between them!
I agree with almost everything you wrote. If there is contact the official should raise the flag first and then confer with others before making a decision.
As for Robinson running too close to Collins, when was running next to someone a DQ offense? Those who have stated Robinson was in the wrong make it sound like she ran Collins off the track, cut her off and/or mugged her.
Tony, watch the slow mo video again and just focus on Robinson's foot strikes. She maintains her line the whole time with her feet either landing on the lane line or inside lane 2. Now watch Collins. She is inside lane 1 the entire time. So where is the crowding?
If you want to see crowding, check out this picture from yesterday's NCAA women's 1500 semis where no one fell:
http://www.letsrun.com/photos/2014/ncaa-day2/imagepages/image140.phpI can't tell if there was contact between the two but this running too close accusation is getting old and is unsubstantiated.
This picture should resolve this thread:
Here is another photo taken slightly earlier than the milesplit photo:

Note that Robinson is already completely in lane two. Looks like Collins is trying to make a move between Maxwell and Robinson.
Just stop it! We've already had two only mildly delusional HS coaches vouch that Robinson snaked her foot out like a cobra to thrust a mortal blow to Collins' right leg, almost snapping it like a twig. Robinson is known to practice as a black belt in runjitsu and has a string of broken bodies of competitors in the wake of her career. Her sharp reflexes and mesmerizing mind-control of the three nearby track officials won the day for the Dark Side.

It is now more than obvious that Collins should have been DQ'd immediately.
You should all go revisit the London '12 men's 1500M final. Tons of contact all over the place, none more so than by the guy who won. That's racing! Do we really need to tell our runners they are fragile and the slightest touch is grounds for a DQ? Of course not. We can't even tell for certain if there was contact between Collins and Robinson, which should make it absolutely clear nobody should be DQ'd.
I don't know any athletes or coaches involved, but I like the way Collins bounced back up and fought to hold onto second. That's a real champion mentality.

These girls are so far above their usual competitors it was a new experience for them to be bunched together with a little more than 200 to go and a state championship on the line. Misjudgements were made from their inexperience, but there is no discounting the heart they showed on that final lap. True competitors.

Whoa. By posting the photo, with the description, I was making a point that Robinson did not trip Collins. She was already well wide of both Maxwell and Collins. The trip happened just a fraction of a second before this photo was taken.

It's obvious the foul was by Collins.

Confirming, Sarah is in fact a jedi master
Tony, Why did you get fired?
Man... HS coaches with AlSal-wannabe syndrome.
"SOMEONE TOUCHED SOMEONE!!! DQ DQ DQ!"
I was on the rail at 250m, and I was slightly behind as contact occurred. As a coach you tend to have an eye for details of mechanics... Call it luck, but I happened to be focused on feet & legs at the moment in question. *** what stuck out to me was the right leg and foot of Collins changing direction inwards after grazing the left leg of Sarah. Things like that are out of the norm & really catch the eye.
Y'all can debate who's at fault in that moment, but contact occurred that altered Destiny's stride causing her to fall.

You are so full of crap.
Enough, So far this discussion has solved nothing and has sunk into the cellar. Yes, we have beat the "dead horse to death".

I agree.
Anyone who believes that it was fatigue that caused Collins to fall over will have to explain how she was able to jump up, fully invigorated, and finish the race in second.
Then, to fully confirm her miraculous recovery, comes in 4th in the 3200, a mere 6 seconds off her personal best.
Collins only ran 4:51. Maxwell surely would have beaten her and might have kept up with Robinson.
Collins did knock down Maxwell, and should have been disqualified on the spot.
