Triathlete punches woman en route to win!!!

But then again, I'm not a triathlete. Guess some eat their own. Blood thirsty jerk. Did he win? Didn't think so. Does anyone have his Olympic splits? He must be just so amazing.

If it's Blair...he ran a blazing fast 1:39 half and could have avoided the drama or at least help pick her up and still placed 2nd with no other runners in the pic. What a man, what a man what a very fine man.Isn't that over 7:40 pace. Nice long run dude.

true, but as pointed out: if you hang with douches (i.e., enter tri's), expect to deal with douchebag behavior (like getting punched by a guy in spandex who is mad his jog is being interrupted).

Maybe next time instead of waking up at 3:00 am, spending 100's of $ on the entry fee(not to mention THOUSANDS of $'s on equipment, pool time, etc, etc, etc), driving a long distance, dragging your whole family with you, ALL in the name of proving you are just INCREDIBLE (by completing a tri, because you are already beautiful, successful, a good samaritan, etc, etc, etc, etc, but that's not enough ), you'll do the sensible thing and wake up 4 hrs later, drive 10 mins, spend $25, let your kids sleep in (or come watch IF THEY WANT TO) and jump in the local 10k up the road and get just as good of a workout.

But hey, that wouldn't impress people or feed your ego enough, so.......enter a doucheathalon and deal with douches.

Guess when you can't hang anymore on the roads or track, one becomes a tridouche? NEVER!! He had the open road. At 7:45pace was he really that far gone? I just don't get it. Mo or any fast guy would have simply gone around her at 4:40pace no problem. Again,the road was WIDE OPEN. Guess I'll just never understand the mentality of the tridouche.

I actually took the photos posted here and therefore clearly witnessed the entire incident. As noted, Alison was not in the finishing chute as she was just beginning her run. It is also quite clear that there was plenty of room to move around her instead of barreling through her. I don't care how tired you are, you can take a step to the side and avoid contact. USAT and Toughman take these incidents very seriously and disqualified this guy from the race primarily on grounds of poor sportsmanship. This is not something Alison requested or pushed them to do but hopefully it will result in this guy using better judgement next time around. At the end of the day you just don't hit ladies. Humanitarian or not, just don't do it. Absurd indeed.

Now that is a weak**s run time.

So far there's been no video that shows the guy hit the woman, or punched her in the face as alleged. The photos show the guy is BEHIND her.

It appears from the photos that she backed into him, in which case there was no reason for him to think she was going to do such a think in the middle of the race. Maybe he wasn't aware of what she was doing and didn't have time to do anything.

If he actually punched her that's different, but so far there is no evidence that he did, at least not shown here on LR. If she just backed into him, causing the collision, and he just kept running, then maybe he should have stopped to make sure she was okay, but had no fault as it was her who backed into him. Again, if he hit her, and/or had time to move and didn't, that's his fault for not doing that, and still hers for backing into him, but she didn't deserve to be purposely hit.

I'm just curious, was she also DQ'd?

What are you stupid or just haven't read anything? He ran into her or punched or shoved her. If you find a way to justify that (i.e. by saying that she must have backed into him) then please explain why the tool couldn't even bother to say he was sorry after or come back to make sure she was ok? Disqualify her for doing what 99% of these amateur triathletes do vs disqualify him for being an aggressor, breaking the rules, and showing zero sportsmanship.... Duhh.. Sportsmanship is a rule because in its essence athletes need to reasonable in their actions and bring a positive attitude to sports. If you can't understand that then I hope you are just a lousy couch potato and not running wild out there.

I can't say for sure w/o seeing video, but it does not appear to be a punch, but more like a shove, which is still not good, but is not even close to a man punching a woman as the subject line suggest. In one hand I can relate to being a competitor at the point of exhustion trying to eak out every second in your performance and having someone get in your way at the last minute. But, in the other hand, I can't imagine any situation where my respect for women and children ever takes a back seat.

Let's break it down layer by layer and you try to justify for us:

- If he punched her in the back, how can you justify?

- If he shoved her, how can you justify?

- If she back into him and he could not avoid running into her, how can you justify him not checking if she's ok?

- If he had "tunnel vision" (b/c apparently the world record was on the line), how can you justify him not offering an apology?

No matter how severe or which way you look at it, the guy is wrong dude, accept it and move on. I live in NYC and run and bike in central park all the time. I witness too much petty behavior and athlete rage.. whenever you participate in an event where there are many people you have to understand that sometimes they will get in your way and be reasonable in your reactions. Believe it or not guys like this are also the face of the sport. There should be no room for that kind of action.
