If you built a large bubble around the helicopter you could still have air around it for lift one you got into space. The solar panels could be mounted on the surface of the bubble. Actually, I have been testing such a scheme and have been looking for a sponsor.

This is why I come to letsrun, all the cutting edge science. I could read about science at nasa or some shi7, but those guys are years behind. Anyways, gettting a solar powered helicopter to the moon should be a relatively simple matter. The earth is moving right? And the moon is moving right? All you have to do is get the helicopter to hover in place in the path of the moon's orbit, should be easy with solar power. The force of gravity operates at the same speed as the force of light, so using its solar motor the helicopter can propel itself opposite the earth's gravity at the same speed, hovering. The earth will move away from the helicopter and when it gets into the path of the moon's orbit, in the moon's gravitational field, the moon will scoop it right up. Its just a matter of using light rays to hover down at this point.
Totally possible, the earth is spinning like wicked fast, just take off in the helicopter with a rope attached then just let out a little rope as the copter gets higher and that bitch will pick up mad centripetal force and sling shot to the moon in a few hours. Boom!

Yes, angle of attack creates the pressure differential not the shape of the airfoil.

No. Outer space is pretty much devoid of gaseous particles. Spinning helicopter rotors require running into gaseous particles to create pressure differences that create lift. Craft designed for outerspace have rockets / plasma accelerators to create motion in the void that is space. The highest recorded helicopter flight is @ 40,000 ft. Planes can get higher due to their Brayton cycle engines (@ 74,000').
