And then higher price= less waste= better environment is what America is against. I dont care if you love the environment or hate it; you should have your choice to do what you want (ie buy or don't buy gas for the normal price without gov't driving it up).

Dude, we've got $4/gallon gas over here because the real cost is hidden from folks like you. Half our military budget could be cut if we weren't protecting our overseas petroleum supply lines. Add that cost in and gas is really costing you $8. If you want to add in the cost of all of these "free" highways you'd see that the real cost of driving is more like $10/gallon (and that's without counting insurance, purchasing, maintenance and repair costs for your car...).

So, yeah, you should have your choice to do what you want - buy gas or don't buy gas at $10/gallon.

Who cares. Gas prices spiked after 9/11. They spiked in 2008 over $4/gallon. Anyone who has staked their economic future on the availability of cheap gas is a m - f'i ng d um b azz. All it takes is some s h i tpot 3rd world dictator to rattle some sabers and suddenly you're screwed.

There are dozens if not hundreds of car models that can easily get 30+ mpg and most of them are cheaper cars. New Hyundais are pushing 40+ mpg, not even hybrid. But that won't stop some dumb billy bob who lives a thousand miles away from work and HAS to drive a Ford F-350 every day, regardless of whether he needs it for work or not.

The US is still causing upheavel in the Middle East by occupying Palestine after 70 years even though the UK surendered Hong Kong, and the USSR surrendered East Berlin. Pretty dumb for Obama to ruin the economic recovery by meddling in the Middle East where we never belonged in the first place.

Why Obama can't/won't even consider vastly expanding domestic oil exploration is just plain lunacy. He has the executive powers to do this. But, the man is beholden to the tree-huggers (Greenpeace, EPA, etc) If we supposedly have all this oil within our borders, then why don't we strike out on our own and start tapping our resources? OPEC will continue screwing us in the ass unless we get a President who has some balls and radically goes full throttle on tapping our domestic oil.

Yes, it's just that easy. It's all Obama's fault. That's why, when we had an oilman president and GOP House and Senate they went right ahead with domestic drilling, right?

Hmmm, more drilling, finding our own oil, building that pipeline- seems like a job creator to me. Seems like a program that America needs now.

However, I do admire your optimism (should we call it faith) that any of this crop of Republicans has a chance. I honestly wish that party had put up a candidate I could consider. Maybe it is the whole primary process (appealing to loonies on the far right) that makes them unelectable in the general election. Too bad. I actually think Mitt was a reasonable moderate governor, but now that is a bad thing so he runs away from that as if it never happened.

Wendell, you do realize that the Obama administration is 100% responsible for granting off-shore drilling permits for both deep water and shallow water. He's been dragging his feet on granting permits for well over a year. In these times of accelerating crude oil prices, he should be fast tracking permits. Again, this is another job creator.

Why can't we just go medieval on the middle east? Just go in kill everyone and take what we need- oil. We can make the few that we decide to let live work in the oil fields.
