Tim Tebow is currently featured in television ads running in Colorado wishing viewers "Happy Holidays," not "Merry Christmas."
Anyone got a problem with that? Apparently he doesn't. Good for him.

No. Not in the least. The world I live in has not become that overly-sensitive.
The hyper political correctness you implicitly reference is to a large extent a pop-culture/media fabrication.
Seriously. I'm not Christian and I am mildly offended when people wish me a "merry Christmas." Get with it, people, it's not about being overly-sensitive, that's just something ignorant people use to keep their unconscious biases in place. What's wrong with "happy holidays"?

I'm sure Tim read the copy for the spot.
I bet if you meet him in person, He'll wish you a Merry Christmas! He might even throw in a "God bless you and your family"
Tebow was reading a teleprompter.
He said what they told him to say.
It's just like when Obama reads God bless America.

But that's not the point, is it? He's still responsible for what's being said. It's a 100% endorsement for the term "Happy Holidays" or he wouldn't have done the promo spot. If the copy he was reading said, "Heil Hitler," he would be just as responsible, as would anyone else in that position.
Howdy folks.
Today is my birthday. I don't know if it is your birthday or not.
I wish you a Happy Birthday!!!
Today is Christmas. I don't know if you celebrate Christmas or not.
I wish you a Merry Christmas!!!
Am I offensive? No. Am I presumptuous and do I sound kind of stupid? Yes.
Who cares what Tim Tebow said?
Why on earth would someone be offended by the term Happy Holidays?
Is Christmas not a holiday?
It's insane when people say that everyone is trying to take away Christmas by using the term happy holidays instead of Merry Christmas. They aren't trying to take anything away at all, if anything they are trying to incorporate more holidays!
It's the people that are holding fast to Merry Christmas and getting offended at Happy Holidays that are trying to shut down the other holidays. So back asswards.
This entire thread is absolutely hilarious. Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill! Holy mackerel!
To the OP - Well done. Definitely a 10. Lots of responses. People taking it seriously. And all about absolutely nothing.
You are officially nominated for the troll of the year award (and your timing is impeccable - your efforts will surely be fresh in the voters' minds)..

Nah, not really though. Because it isn't anyone elses birthday.
It's still Christmas whether the person in question cares or not.

Logic fail.
You wouldn't wish someone else a Happy Birthday on your birthday "because it isn't anyone else[']s birthday." That makes sense. But you will wish a stranger Merry Christmas even if you don't know whether or not it is their holiday to celebrate. That makes no sense. It's not offensive, it just doesn't make any sense given that not everyone celebrates Christmas.
You say "It's still Christmas whether the person in question cares or not." That's true. But it is also true that it's still my birthday whether the person in question cares or not. Whether or not today is actually Christmas or my birthday is not a good reason for me to wish others a Happy Birthday or Merry Christmas. After all, maybe today isn't your birthday, and maybe you don't celebrate Christmas.

Why are you declaring a war on Christmas?
"Who cares what Tim Tebow said?"
Are You kidding? Bill O'Reilly's head is going to explode. I'm crossing my fingers, anyway.

I agree you do sound stupid. If it is your birthday, whether you are celebrating it or not, you shouldn't be offended by someone wishing you Happy Birthday!!
If you look on the calendar, and it's Christmas time, you shouldn't be offended if someone wishes you to be Merry on Christmas whether you are or aren't celebrating the Holiday.
If you look on the calendar and its Friday, you shouldn't be offended if someone wishes you a Happy Friday even if you aren't celebrating that particular Friday.
If it'll make you happy, though, I'll wish that you have the worst day of your life this Dec 25th and hope that you don't find an ounce of merriment or happiness on the day.

I have no problem with it, and I'm an atheist. It's just shorthand for the holiday season, and a largely secular one at that, for that matter, if we're honest about it. I don't wear my religious beliefs, or lack of them, on my sleeve, dislike it when others do. Therefore, I absolutely refuse to expect others to be sensitive to my sensitivities, or lack of same on these matters.
Merry Christmas.
And, at the risk of offending you, Happy New Year.
What Muslim friends!? ......More accurately what friends? My guess is that you don't have very many.

Dang, you figured me out! Well, if the truth is to be told it all goes back to my early childhood experiences - my formative years, as it were.
You know how all little girls want a pony for Christmas and boys all want a puppy? Well, I wanted a salamander. And when Santa refused to bring me my salamander I simply could not accept that my absolute inalienable needs were not being met. Thus, I declared WAR!
I hate Santa Claus and everything he represents. I hate Christmas trees. I hate presents, wrapping paper, Christmas lights. I even hate he who cannot be named lest I be banned from the site.
And to you I wish a Very MERRY CHRISTMAS.
BWAHAHHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!!!!

Why you ignorant little puss of a man. I, being an enlightened and reasonable man, don't celebrate New Years Day and take great offense that you would wish that I be happy on the day. Fock you! The members of my cult and I aim to push this holiday right off the calendar and to convince you that you would feel the same too if you weren't such an unlearned fool.

And I am offended that you still use a calendar at all. Are not all days created equal? Raise yourself above the ignorant pond scum station in life to which you were born.
