Will someone please call Oregon a WAAAAAAAAHHHHHHMBULANCE!
Will someone please call Oregon a WAAAAAAAAHHHHHHMBULANCE!
Screw that. Oregon got what it deserves. It's not Lukas' fault they don't develop runners very well. Yeah, that's right, and it's the truth if you look closely. Vin is a master at managing top flight talent, but very average (at best) in taking non-elite DI talent and developing it. There is SO much talent on that roster (start with Shrader and work down), that losing LV should not have been make or break.
That being said, I agree that LV's move, 12 days before NCAA's is pathetically selfish and another sad indication of the increasing sense of entitlement among this generations athletes.
do what's best for you
team is just made up shit
Go Gull Lake Sqirrells !!
If Galen Rupp and decided to not run national because he was worried about his pro career you people of would have stormed his house with torches and pitch forks.

the bill of rights guarantees civilians 100% rights and that means every person has self-determination.
you can't make decisions for me or for lukas, and i and lukas can't make decisions for you.
get used to it, civilian.
If that is true, then why did you follow the order for a code red?

Values,
Man you are so spot on here! This guy is a one way freight train full of me, me, me! The interview with Slowtwitch really reveals his true colors-
"Oregon of course tried to stop me from making this decision, but I didn’t want to be jumping back into the same river. The decision is final and now it’s just time for me to fully focus on triathlon training and racing."
"Oregon tried to stop me" WTF is he actually saying here? That he's so amazingly cool that nobody's ever going to call the shots except number one?
Let me tell you the river that's he's in now - it's call the "Shit-River" and nobody with any good sense should sponsor him or work with such a temperamental flake who only has his own selfish agenda planned. He's got some nerve if he thinks going to put the flag over his shoulders again and expect anyone to clap! I feel like if I saw him leading a race during a Tri - at this point, I'd either throw an egg, actually spit or scream "F you" at him!
He really optimizes everything that one shouldn't be as an athlete! I hope this asinine decision stays with him a really, really long time and it weights heavily into any agreement that he makes with any institution, bank, girlfriend, college, sponsor, etc...... Gatorade should take back their award! And........ I wonder how Jim Ryun feels about this and all he did to promote and encourage Lukas to break four for the mile in HS? The more I write the angrier I'm getting about this - somebody should kick his ass!

Epitomizes.....not optimizes.
Chad redshirted his freshman year and then transferred. He wasn't on varisity and didn't puss out 3 days before regionals.
Nobody ripped Webb for screwing his teammates over because we finished out his freshman year and then decided it wasn't for him. He was ripped for going pro to soon, but the teammate sellout.
was it really going to be that bad for him to run a couple more races and finish out the xc season?

i was being a little facetious.
however, the timing of a transfer, while not justifying the motivations for it, seems like it shouldn't matter--for whatever reasons, l.v. felt like he didn't fit in, so he moved on...
Why is no one mentioning that Lukas was only allowed to run two races during the season and expected to be up for the regional...
He only was allowed one race before Pac-12's, imagine how frustrated he was that the "inaccessible" VIN wouldn't allow him to race and get used to the collegiate competitive experience?
I say screw Oregon. Bunch of individuals over there and I am sure the ego of the coach, the teammates boiled over until he was like screw this place.
If Oregon relies so much on one person - Lukas in this case, then something is wrong with that college.
Coaches need a contingent plan!
And for Lukas' case, it was clear that Lukas was in Dilemma.
So if anyone screw the Oregon team, it is the lack of contingency planning and not Lukas!
Maybe LV accidentally got pregnant and that's why he left

Only ALLOWED to run twice this season? Yeah, that kind of does make a difference. I was all ready to bash on LV for being selfish, self-serving, disloyal to his team, etc. but if they wouldn't let him run most / all of the team's races, then why would he want to stay? I also suspect that he thought he would suck @ regionals / nationals and that's why he bailed on his team. ?
When you read V, note how many times he uses first-person pronouns vs. referring externally. He's all about himself.
He puts himself first. Not his team. Not his family. Not his cancerous friend. He puts himself first.
That is his strength.
It wouldn't have made sense for Lukas to run more races early in the season. He had a long summer going for gold in the triathlon and he hurt himself a bit at the end, too. It makes a lot sense for him to take a few weeks at Oregon to train for a bit before returning back to racing.
One of the Johnsons said something about drop dates at Oregon not being relevant to the discussion. You're right that it's not relevant in terms of finishing out the season, but it is relevant in terms of his GPA and future eligibility. So is he actually enrolled in Colorado already? Does he have classes or do they not start until January?
