No Omar Hyjek for Dickinson. He was their #1 at NCAA's last year.
Noticed Jennifer Gossels' name in the results for the USATF 5K Championship in Providence on Saturday. Guess that truly means she's skipping a season of eligibility at Williams. What a shame. Hopefully she'll be back-- so talented!
Eric Kleinsasser of Occidental, 3-time SCIAC cross country champion, ran 24:21 this weekend to win the 'B' heat at the UC Riverside Invitational. Broke 30:30 in track last season, but I don't think has dipped under 25 before in cross... (He was 110th last fall and 35th the year before.)

No, I believe it's officially a redshirt season for him.
Course was same as it has been for a while, not short but very fast and flat. The lack of recent rain made for a very quick surface and the temperature was nice and cool. Without Kramer Calvin doesn't have the firepower to challenge for the title this year. They might finish on the podium as it looks like they probably have 5 guys who could run in the 30-50 place range at nationals. Good but not enough.

the sauce is a legit runner, but the UCR course is almost laughable. did you see the winning time of the A race? Something like 22:58. that's not a typo-22:58. some homie from Utah i think. pretty sure he's a sub 13:50 guy on the track.
anyways, UCR course: typically dusty with soft dirt--really the only challenge to an already short course (did anyone notice that the starting line was moved up about 50m?!) It rained lightly the night before, making absolutely no dust, and a hard-packed terrain. 65 degrees, no sun, good competition, short course= inflated times. no hills either. a few 90 degree turns, but it's a ridiculously fast course. i don't think The Sauce will break 25:30 again this season on any of the courses he's scheduled to race.
1- Impressive run by Geneseo to put in 3 before Dickinson's #1, they have a 14:37 guy and a 14:47 guy.
2- Dickinson did put in 5 before Geneseo, I tend to think thats a formula for success at nationals. 20 second spread is good, wonder if they can tighten that up before nats.
3- Elizabethtown races Dickinson on Dickinson's home course this weekend, that may help put the Penn State performances in context. If Dickinson slaughters E-town it means Dickinson is probably a top 10 team but Geneseo is just really good. If its tight or E-town wins that probably means Dickinson is overrated.
why is wash u ranked so high? what have they done to deserve the 3rd spot besides hype? they get over-ranked every year.

Kramer is medical redshirted for the season. Torn his hamstring bad and is out for the entire year. Will be back 2012.

I agree 3rd is too high for them, but overranked every year? I don't remember them even being ranked before last year.
okay maybe every year is an exaggeration, but last year they were ranked 2nd most of the year and finished *9th* (or so).
Is it true that Bernstein (Wash U) is transferring back to Trinity at the semester break? If so, why???

it's easy to take 'the field' against North Central and Haverford, but Williams is not a bad choice. Though pointing out that Williams had a run in the 90's for a few years and just trophied once or twice since. I think Haverford has trophied a few times recently (obviously winning last year for first time). Look at the DIII history...I'm betting on 2 midwest schools (WIAC, WashU, and/or NCC), an east coast school and a random south school. (just kidding on the south school)...
