I was about 3 feet away from him when it happened. Someone stepped on the back of his spikes/Zoom Victory and his heel came completely off. Being a good sport, he consciously shot off into lane 3/4 on the backstretch and knelt down and tugged at his heel for about 4-5 seconds. Stood back up and started back into things. All his momentum was gone and as fast as that track is the group was already coming off the top of the curve headed down the homestretch. He gained on the pack but with about 300 meters to go people started to move and its hard to respond to a move when you are 45 meters behind it. He didnt seem strained at all. Just kinda cruised. He's fine.
I was about 2 inches away from him when it happened. His Zoom Victory spike size 10.5 came off. He stopped and fixed it, drank some coffee, read a magazine. He then started running again, caught back up to the pack and put a huge gap on them. His coach told him to relax at that point so he just walked it in the last 400m. No big deal.
I was right there . . . Because I am German Fernandez. Someone stepped on the back of my white, 10.5, well tied zoom victories. I stopped to take it off and throw it at the person who did it, but instead decided to just slip it back on. When I resumed running again, I accidently thought I was way in the lead, rather than way behind, so I was attempting just to cruise to an easy victory. Oh well. 7:45 at the Husky Invite or bust.
So much for all you posters that have stated in the past if German can't win he will not finish a race. Once again he proves you wrong.
C'mon you people, Farrell ran a 4:02. When you compare him to Fernandez, he is slower than him at long distances AND short distances. If Farrell ran a 4:02, Fernandez is definitely in sub 4:00 shape.

I see. So Farrell being healthy and fit implies that Fernandez is healthy and fit.
Not hating on GF here. I wish him the best and hope to see more great things from him in the future. But "imajest", your logic has absolutely no logic to it.
