Wow--these were some pretty accurate predictions:
"Sheila Reid has to be the favorite right now . . . if someone else makes a break early, does she have the go-ahead to go after it, or is she solely running for the team title?" (She finished first, staying near the front but not making a break until inside 200m to go.)
"Hasay also has to be considered the leader among the next group of possible winners, with Kimaiyo (UTEP), the better Van Dalen twin (Lucy? [Stony Brook]), and Reid's teammate Marino (10th) also in that bunch" (finished 3rd [and made a bid for the win in the last 400m], 4th, 6th, and 10th, respectively).
"If everything goes absolutely perfect and they catch a couple breaks, Infeld (Georgetown), Kosinski (Oregon) , the lesser of the Van Dalen twins (Holly?), and Maier (Cal) all have a shot" (2nd [had a great day, in it until inside 200m to go], 19th, 7th, and 30th [a bit off on Kosinski and especially Maier, but no blowups]).
"Hoer (NC State) and Sisson (Wisco) will likely be solidly within the top-20, but I don't think either of the freshmen will win it all" (Sisson finished 14th and Hoer 21st--a near miss!).
"Although Schaaf (UNC) seems to be rounding into form, I don't think she's nearly as fit as she was last year; top-10 would be a good run" (11th).
"Hogan (GW) should be satisfied with top-10 or -15" (8th).
Only ones in the top-10 were Tanui and McShine, and the only real miss was Maier, although maybe Kosinski and Marino also count to a lesser degree.
