USA Elite runners PLEASE go to 2010 Word X-Country Championships!

We're not talking multi-million dollar appearance fee. How do you know if Analia Rosa or John Doe doesn't get some type of appearance fee for those team titles? Are you appearance fee coordinator?

We're not talking about Todd Williams the athletes today are making huge leaps and bounds and competing and beating the Kenyans and other Africans, with you logic they wouldn't have done that because it's too hard and unrealistic. Well step in 2009 where unrealistic is becoming realistic by the outstanding elite performances the U.S. middle and long-distance corps have been displaying all year!

Winning a team medal may or may not give them more appearance fee but it definitely will go along way when time to sign a contract. Just like in the NBA they have targets that athletes shoot for and are used in forming contracts. Not all NBA athletes will get the bonus for scoring averaging 25 pts but don't you think one that average 15 pts who may have only averaged 10 the previous season gets some type of bonus. YES well the same goes for athletics as the have international meets and performances that will increase their earning potential.

I think Athletics Canada would have a big problem if Kendra Schaaf ran for Team USA...just a thought.

Also, some of those runners mentioned have a better chance of picking up some cash at world indoors.

How is a woman who runs 15:40 for 5000m a draw to a major track meet? You would pay her a few thousand euros to run where?

There are a number of WXC team medalists who do command appearance fees, but their credentials for commanding those fees have nothing to do with those team medals.

The NBA's level of money doesn't exist in athletics and their is no Player's Union in athletics. Most contracted athletes show, or showed at some point, the potential to be a contender for the US Olympic or World outdoor team. Just look at the entries and see who is unattached and who sint. Beyond that, the managers can have a big effect on how it goes. Last I saw, I still think that Trammell was without contract.

What about Josh McDougal? I think he would make the team a lot better. If anyone knows where he is.

United States of America middle & long-distance runners, coaches, and fans have alot to be proud of with the strides made by our athletes. Let it be known that dispite the rude and insensitive words that may appear on this thread or by a FEW Letsrun posts that majority of us at Letsrun, runners of all calibers, and fans appreciate and get the sacrifaces athletes endure daily.

The majority of posters on this thread simply put out the idea that our athletes group together because we see the potential of our young and veteran athletes. Potential to compete against the Kenyans, Ethiopians, and other countries of abundance distance runners. We see this and hope that somehow this thread finds it to all of you, so the world can see the potential of U.S. runners and your ability to medal.

It would be nice to see our veterans and young athletes show the world by stepping up and grabbing a 2010 World X-Country team medal that some think is beyond our athletes's grasp!

If money is the biggest issue there are a lot of solid Cross races in Europe early in the year with prize money and apperance fees for top runners.... I know the African runners make a bunch of money during this season

You've confused correlation with causation, my simple, illiterate friend.

It'd be nice to actually see some race results from him sometime in the year before the selection race before anyone should be confident that he'd be a beneficial addition to "the team."

That's a Gold medal contending team for sure plus we have other runners now who could hit top 25.

I AGREE and I'm hoping and begging that such a men's and women's team gets together for 2010!
