Boy, we're crushing Ben Johnson's times now? I guess I'll stupidly continue to give the benefit of the doubt. Without Bolt's frame, Gay's time is just as freakish, btw. Gotta admit I enjoyed watching and the crowd atmosphere. I have a feeling this great memory will be remembered with great bitterness eventually.

Clearly you have never attended or looked at results of the Penn Relays. The depth of young sprint talent in that 'small nation' is obvious. Track & field is a big sport in Jamaica - they don't have basketball and football to take away some of the great T&F athletes.

Bolts early success is well documented and as others have said he was a 200/400 guy so you won't find a lot of times for the 100m from his youth. He ran 45point for the 400m in HS. He is simply the best sprinter the world may ever see - at least 25-30 years ahead of his time if you look at WR progression in the 100m.

what does any of this have to do with cheating? would you have said this about all of the other rich athlete cheaters who were eventually busted?

it would be awesome if bolt is clean, but he's certainly not above suspicion. to say otherwise is blatantly ridiculous.

Jamaica to sprints is like Kenya to distance runners. Jamaica has been producing world class sprinters for decades. I live in south florida which is home to a good sized contingent of Jamaicans, including former olympians, and their offspring. Sanya Richards' parents are of Jamaican decent.

9.58 is freakish but he's been freakish to me since running 45.35 400m, 20.13 at age 16.

Believe it or not, both of their progressions have been fairly logical and are comparable to other progressions. Asafa Powell's progression is the only guy that was in the race today that's progression should raise some eyebrows, but regardless, we have no proof.

Fast times are not evidence of cheating. Sometimes people are just good at things in life, whether it be running or anything else. Don't take their accomplishments away from them just because you don't understand how they can do it.

He ran 19.93 at 16 too. This guy was above the other kids and now he is above the adults. Yes he is a freak of nature. Let put in words some of these GED drop outs around here can understand Usain Bolt is the Michael Jordan of track&field.

No. Johnson and Jones were no surprise. Gatlin was a little disappointing, but still not shocking.
